Connecting Google Indoor Camera Wired, 3rd generation, setup impossible

I moved to a new residence and am trying to re-setup my Google Indoor Wired camera, 3rd generation. I do not have the sticker that blocked the camera when I bought it or the box. Which seems like a normal thing to not have. As there is no QR code printed on the device you cannot add this device to either Google Home app or the Nest app. This is a huge design flaw. No serial number printed on this item either.

At some point during the setup process, you should get a "Continue without scanning" option, and you should then be able to enter the 6-character alphanumeric setup code that is printed somewhere on your camera.  On our 2nd gen indoor camera, we have to unscrew the base to see the setup code.

Hi Smillet,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I see you’re having trouble reconnecting your Nest Cam Indoor Wired 3rd Gen to either the Google Home app or Nest app after you moved to a new residence. I understand how frustrating it is to be stuck without the QR code or printed serial number. I appreciate your insights, @MplsCustomer; but don't worry—I'm here to help.

For better assistance, please answer the following:

  • What color is the LED status light currently showing on your camera?
  • How far is the device from your router?
  • What specific error message or code do you see in the app during the setup process?
  • Are there any electronics nearby that might interfere with the signal, such as baby monitors, microwaves, or cordless phones?

Note: Every Nest Camera has a setup code physically on the device. For a walk through on how to find this identifier or complete the installation, check out this helpful video on how to set up the Google Nest Cam Indoor Wired (3rd Gen). It will show you exactly where to look for the information needed to complete the pairing process and find the set up code.

Please keep me posted on your findings.

Regards,

Byron
