I deleted the previous account associated with the Nest cams in an attempt to connect to a new account so I cannot remove the cameras from the first account. Is there any way to reconnect the Nest cams to a new gmail account??

To move most Google Nest devices to a new account, you probably need to use the same process Google Nest suggests when changing to a new Wi-Fi network:
Remove the Google Nest device from the Google Nest app or Google Home app while you are on the old Wi-Fi network and on the previous Google Account, then do a factory reset, and then reinstall the device in the Google Nest app or Google Home app using your new Google Account.
I think you may need to contact Google Nest Support for assistance. On some posts (for example: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Cameras-and-Doorbells/Nest-Doorbell-Error-Unable-to-start-dev..., Google Nest has suggested disconnecting the camera for 48 hours, but some customers report this does not work.
