Create routine to leave floodlight on 7 pm - 7am

On my Nest Cam with Floodlight, I wish to have my floodlight on all night, independent of the motion sensor.   There is a post referencing "Create routine" in the app, which would do what I wish, but the settings and options described in the post Re: Dusk till Dawn floodlight - Google Nest Community don't exist in my iOS version of the app.  Has anyone found a way to automatically turn on and off the floodlight independently from the motion sensor, using a schedule photo cell?

Hi chapmand,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand you'd like the floodlight on your Nest Cam with Floodlight to stay on continuously from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, completely independent of the motion sensor. You checked the app for the suggested 'Create routine' feature, but the necessary options are missing or unavailable in your current iOS app version. I'm here to help!

To find the best solution, I have some questions for you:

  • Is your Google Home app updated? Please check out the following link for your reference: Update the Google Home app
  • What is the current operating system (iOS) version on your iPhone or iPad?
  • What options do you see when you try to set up the Routine?

Please keep me in the loop.

Regards,
Juan

Yes the app is up to date.

iOS version is 18.6.2

When I tap on the floodlight icon, the 4 options available are : "device information"," What turns on the floodlight", "floodlight timer" and "daylight sensor".  There is no option to "create routine".

Thanks

Hi chapmand,

Thanks for getting back to me! Below are the steps for scheduling the floodlight to automatically turn on and off.

  • Open the Google Home app and tap Automations.
  • Tap the Add button (the big + icon) to create a new routine.
  • Tap Add starter and choose either at a specific time or at sunrise or sunset to set the start of your routine.
  • Select the days of the week for this routine to run.
  • Tap Add action and choose Adjust Home Devices.
  • Select your floodlights and choose to turn them On or Off.
  • Tap Save to create your routine. You can create a separate routine for when you want the floodlight to turn off.

Please let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Juan

This looks promising, thanks - however when I save the routines, the starters for "Schedule - At Sunset" or "Schedule - at Sunrise" returns the error message "requires an address", and the routine is saved inactive, without the ability to add any kind address to the starters.
