Device is off because it was unmounted & Raccoon

While away from home, my Garage camera on my roof went off line at 3 AM in the morning, and I went online to investigate. The message where the video was cut off said "Device is off because it was unmounted." Looking at the video footage, I saw a paw swipe the camera, and because I have raccoons assumed it was knocked off the magnetic mount, and perhaps the power supply was cut. Wondering why the battery in the camera doesn't continue recording, even if it is hanging off its mount by the security cord?  The last message I got said the camera battery was at 75%. Is there a way to turn on the camera remotely since the battery is charged? I'm not at home to do this manually.

Hi Caprice24,

Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I'm sorry to hear that your Nest camera on the roof went offline. Apparently, raccoons knocked off the magnetic mount, and you received a message stating, 'Device is off because it was unmounted.' I understand how concerning this is, as the battery in the camera doesn't continue recording, even if it's still hanging from its mount by the security cord. I'm happy to assist in finding alternative options for remotely activating the Nest Cam.

Just to confirm, could you please share the model of your Nest camera? Here’s a helpful article about how to identify the model of your device.

For now, I'd suggest trying to turn the camera on through the Google Home app or the Nest app, assuming the camera remains powered and connected to Wi-Fi. For instructions, you can refer to this article: Turn Nest camera on or off.

Let me know if that works.

Best regards,

Jenniffer
