I bought this door bell for video id and also for an internal sound when someone rings it. I cannot get a sound to go on my phone, except a small push notification sound. If my phone is not near me I will not hear this. Do I need to buy a nest speaker for it to work, or can i get my iPhone to make a lound noise.

The only sound option Google Nest provides for our phones is the standard notification sound. (Lots of other customers have asked for more.) You could buy a Nest Hub or Nest Mini and turn on "Visitor announcements" (https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/7672451).

Hi everyone,
@CherT, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, how's it going with your Nest Doorbell? Were you able to read the information and check the link that MplsCustomer has shared? In case you have an update, you know where to find us.
I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Thanks but I am sure you can only turn on visutor announcenents on a wired doorbel, not the battery one

The screen on the battery doorbell's settings screen has a poorly worded message about electronic communications. It is meant to indicate that, when running on battery power, the "Indoor chime" option is disabled because the doorbell is not connected to a doorbell chime. But "Visitor announcements" should still work when the battery doorbell is battery-powered unless there is some defect or misconfiguration.

Hello CherT,
Thanks for getting back to us. You can set up your Google Assistant-enabled device to announce when someone rings your Nest Doorbell. If your device includes a screen, you can also check who’s there. Nest Doorbell (wired or battery) Visitor announcements are available on Assistant-enabled speakers or displays. It's available to both wired and battery Nest Doorbell. You may hit this link for more information.
Regards,
Emerson
