Doorbell and thermostat connect, Nest Indoor Cam will not.

Hello, My Nest Cam Indoor stopped connecting to my NEST account a week ago. I reset my system and reinstalled my NEST Thermostat and Doorbell successfully and easily. I cannot get my NEST Indoor Cam to connect to WIFI. It hangs on the message "Setting up Wi-Fi." I have gone through all of the troubleshooting suggestions and none help. I have a Netgear router that's a year-old. Everything else in my home is connected. The camera is 20 feet from my router when I try to install it. I have not changed my network password recently. Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hi there,

I apologize for my late response and thank you for all of your patience while waiting for a reply. I can definitely understand how frustrating your situation must be, but I wanted to make sure that your issue was addressed. Have you tried to Restart all of your devices? If that didn't work, have you tried to Factory Reset it? I would give both a try. I wanted to remind you of some Important things to know before you factory reset. After you factory reset your camera or doorbell:

  • Your camera will forget your Wi-Fi network name and password.
  • Your camera will be "Offline" in the app. You won't be able to use it until you remove it from the app and reconnect it.
  • Any custom camera settings will revert to default settings.
  • If you want to save any video footage, before you factory reset, create video clips or timelapses and download the files to your phone or computer.
  • If you have a Nest Aware subscription and you plan to continue using your camera or doorbell with the same account, do not cancel your subscription.
  • If you plan to get rid of your camera or add it to a new account, before you factory reset, cancel your Nest Aware subscription. After you cancel, your camera's entire video history, Activity Zones, and snapshots will be erased as soon as you remove your camera from the app. Once your video history and snapshots are deleted, they're gone forever. They cannot be recovered. We do not keep backups.

Important: Because a factory reset permanently erases the items listed above, we don’t recommend doing it as a troubleshooting step until you’ve tried restarting your camera and other troubleshooting options.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi there,

Just checking in to see if you still need assistance with this issue. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best Regards,

Brad.

Hi Brad, The doorbell camera and thermostat are connected and working well. The Best Buy tech team that got both of those up and running were unable to get the Yale Nest lock to connect to the WIFI. It is only 10-feet to the router through one wall. It will accept the code on the key pad, so that's the functionality we have. The older Nest Nest camera will not connect despite my following every available potential solution. I've just given up on it. A new Google Home Max Hub installed and was up and running in minutes. Google's constant churn among its products and control apps make it very difficult to work with. I am retired and living on a fixed income. In the future when I assess possible purchases, my first criteria will be determining the manufacturer's record on producing products and systems that work for the most years. I am not able or interested to throw out products that are two or three years-old simply because they are no longer supported and rendered useless when a problem arises.
