Doorbell doesn’t ring in my house

My doorbell is wired, yet no sounds ring in my house. The app shows chime is on. The visitors hear a doorbell sound thinking that I can hear it in my house and it’s quiet as a crypt in here.

I once had this problem until I realized that I did not have the "indoor chime" switched to "on" in the Google Nest app.  Also if you have Google speakers you can have doorbell notifications directed to your speakers/phone.

@CaptShep

Is this a brand-new install? Which doorbell do you have?

The 1st gen Google Nest Hello Doorbell is installed in the Google Nest app, and its chime connector should be wired using the diagram in this post:

The 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell is installed in the Google Home app, and its chime connector should be wired as shown in this post:

Hi Captshep,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that the chime is not sound inside. I'm here to help you!

Before i begin with troubleshooting, i'd like to ask questions about your concern.

  • What kind of Nest doorbell and Generation do you have?
  • What app are  you using?
  • How many voltages do you have?
  • Have you had any power outage currently?

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Rusell.
