Doorbell themes...how dare you!

Your information on doorbell themes is inaccurate and misleading. Your company or tone deaf PO decided to take control over themes management yet Your help and guides state that the functionality is still there. As a Next Doorbell User, I want the ability to manage doorbell themes, So that I have control over the product that I own. Look, if I'm someone who throws Christmas in July parties, trust that I will talk a lot of smack and NOT recommend your overly priced product when I tell guests that your company enforces theme availability. Yall missed the mark big time.  What was you Acceptance Criteria for changing user control of doorbell themes -  "AC.01: User cannot use the product in a meaningful way"?  Smarten up Google!

Unfortunately with Google stuff is a case of get what you're given. I too was surprised I couldn't configure it how I expected. If I want my doorbell to play my favourite jingle I should have the option to do so.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We hear you and we understand that this specific feature will give you the rights to customise your doorbell themes; however, we don't have any news to share about applying this feature to the Nest app or Google Home app. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. I'd suggest you send feedback to let the Google Engineering team know about your concern. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this.

Best,

Emerson

The Halloween themes worked fine when I selected it.  I totally missed if there was a Thanksgiving.  I selected the Christmas theme and rang the doorbell only to hear the normal boring chime.  I reset the unit by holding in the reset button for 10 seconds and restarted my phone as well.  Even tried selecting another theme as well as the default chime...no luck.  I've read all the old posts from 2021, 2022 and the recent post from early October of this year.  Every year this seems to be an issue.  Billion dollar company and still simple problems are never put to bed. What do I need to do to get the Christmas/Holiday themes working!?!?!?!?!?

Hello Big-Daddy,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, which Nest Doorbell do you have?

Give these steps a try:

  • Reinstall your Nest app or Google Home app.
  • To reset your Nest Doorbell to the factory default, that depends on the version that you have.

In case you have the battery version, to reset:

  1. Locate the reset pinhole on the back of your Nest Doorbell.
Tip: The reset pin on your Nest Doorbell (battery) is located below the USB port on the back of the doorbell.
  2. Insert and hold the pin (you can use an unfolded paperclip or a thumbtack):
    • At 10 seconds, the status light will blink yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
    • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the doorbell starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.
  3. Release the button. Your Nest Doorbell will restore to its factory settings.
  4. After the factory reset, your Nest Doorbell will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.
  5. To remove it from the app, open the app, then tap Settings Nest settings icon Remove device Confirm.

Looking forward to your response.

Regards,

Emerson

Contacted support via chat - They had me unistall both Google Home and the Nest app.  Once I reinstalled and logged in the themes worked.  They said it had to do with my doorbell being the earlier version.
