Hello,
I just bought a gen2 doorbell wired and will buy a new ~24V 30VA transformer, a relay to ring the chime. My existing doorbell and chime is powered by 33V dc supply, and i am wondering if i use a relay (NO pins connected to existing 33v dc outlet, and the coil pins as series to the nest) but i dont know where to put chime adapter? I am an electrical/electronics enginner have the required knowledge but new to chimes 😂. Can someone help me?

Hi Folks,
Thank you for reaching out to the community. I understand that you'd like to install your new Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen) but are having trouble connecting the chime connector. I understand how confusing this must be. I'm here to help.
Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen) has higher power requirements than most doorbells. For most installations, you need to replace the transformer for the new doorbell. It should be rated as 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA, to provide enough power to your doorbell. Here is an important article and diagrams of installation when you upgrade your transformer for the Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen). Also, I can provide a video installation of your Nest Doorbell (Wired, 2nd Gen) that might help.
Let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Byron

What about the Gen 2 (battery) that doesn’t come with a chime connector? How do you wire that to power and to a chime?

Hi kiwi_pete,
Thank you for posting. For Google Nest Doorbell (Battery). You might need to choose what the doorbell will use for power. You can choose either battery or wire terminals. Here is the video on how to install your Google Nest Doorbell (Battery) wirelessly to help.
If you're planning to install it hardwired. Please do the following:
Turn off the power to the current doorbell. If you're unsure if you’ve managed to turn the power off, you can press the doorbell button until the interior chime stops ringing.
Uninstall the current doorbell.
Install the included wedge.
Connect the source of power to the doorbell.
For wired terminals: connect the old doorbell wires to the wire extenders, and attach the wire extenders to the screws on the back of the doorbell. Attach the connectors to the doorbell and screw them in place.
(Optional) for battery: attach the connectors of the indoor power adapter to the screws on the back of the doorbell and plug the indoor power adapter into a socket.
Attach the doorbell to the base plate.
Turn the doorbell transformer back on.
Let me know if you have any further questions.

Byron
