First gen Nest Camera dying/dead?

JordanKZ

I have a first generation Nest camera that has been barely working the last few weeks, and I'm starting to think that it might actually be on its last legs.

The camera cannot be reached on the Nest or Google Home app, despite working previously. I know its attached to my wifi extender, which other devices are using without problems. wifi extender.png

The nest camera is 192.168.1.6, and this can be confirmed by checking the information on home.nest.com.

I'm also able to ping the device without any problems... Until I try to actually access it, then this happens:

The device continually times out when I try to access it, or becomes unreachable.

I've tried fixing this using the following:

  1. Rebooting the main wifi router, and the extender.
  2. Changing the wifi channels
  3. Splitting 2.4ghz and 5ghz into different SSID
  4. Completely deleting the camera from my nest account and setting it up again (this works, but the camera setup doesn't fully complete, as it cannot be previewed).
  5. Connecting it to the main wifi router.
  6. Disconnecting the camera from power for 10 minutes and reconnecting the power.

None of this has worked.
