Flood light cam in not compatible with my other nest products

ottoa2000

This is so dumb. i have several nest cams that i can quickly access from my phone or computer....but now i have to use a completely different app that operates differently to see my flood light cam. Come on google, stop complicating my life and trying to reinvent the wheel. No computer access from work either. If i want to see and save a string of events i have to go to two different apps. Don't call it NEST if it is not really nest.

I've just installed mine today and found out the same, can't control the floodlights through Alexa either.

Hey folks,

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://goo.gle/3A7x7ug web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support.

Best Regards,

Brad

I understand you wanted to create an integrated user experience between displays and speakers, but it sucks as the user. Here's an example if somebody comes into my front yard and messes with my front door and then they walk into my backyard before I used to be able to use one app to watch what they were doing and easily go forward and backwards. Now I got to watch them on one app. Then when they come to my backyard I got to open up a different app and it's not as easy to reverse and save the video as it used to be. There's a completely new user experience. But hey, at least I'll be able to play led Zeppelin while I'm trying to figure out how to get these cameras to work to make sure danger stranger isn't trying to kill me

Hi all,

Thanks for your help here, Brad and Jake.

ottoa2000, we hear you. Our team is working hard to deliver the best experience for our users — we'll take this as feedback. Keep an eye on the Google Nest Community page https://goo.gle/2JvnMRy for any updates. Check out this link on how to file feedback.

Sjb5281, got it. Thanks for sharing that with us. Give these steps a try:

  1. Open the Home app.
  2. Select the floodlight.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Select What turns on the floodlight.

You may choose from the following options:

Motion and motion sensitivity.

Turn on the lights when the floodlight’s motion sensor detects activity. You can adjust the motion sensitivity settings to determine when the floodlight will turn on. You can choose from the following options:

  • High
  • Medium
  • Low

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

Hi thanks for your reply.

I'm after a light being triggered in the house which is separate from the floodlight.

Thanks

Hi Jake, yes I saw Brad's post. Didn't resolve any issues people are having with the fragmented eco system though.

All I want is for an alarm or light to come on when a person is detected on the Flood Camera, hardly asking for much from a smart camera. Thanks
