Four Years of non valid detects Outdoor Cam - Is this good Customer Service?

Read and share : since installation of Nest Cam Outdoor 4 years ago I have experienced :

- Detection of car headlights at night as valid detection of a person(s)

- Randomly not detecting an 'actual valid person' at night or daytime in a defined Valid Detect Zone

- Detecting people outside a Valid Detect Zone (eg people walking up the road outside my driveway)

Numerous Video Clips/Timeline Screen grabs / Screen captures of Notifications on my phone, double checked camera settings, checked upload speed of internet has all been done and sent to Engineering Support levels 1 and 2.

Everything was  then supposedly past on to Engineering to investigate. Guess what has happended?. Nothing.

The only thing it does is act as a recorded camera 24 hours a day subscribing to Nest Aware.

It seems impossible for the great Engineering brains at Google to write software for the Nest Aware servers to actually get these  detection processes  to work correctly. Even after 4 years.

Detecting things outside a defined zone within a HD frame must be a non brainer - especially as it is virtually a horizontal split screen 70/30 in my case  - but I still get things detected as people outside the non detect zone. Why?

Simply put,  in my experience Zones do not work and night detection of car headlights as 'valid persons' seems a regular occurance.

To answer my own question in the subject line above,  Google Nest do not even appear to know how to spell 'Customer Service' let alone understand what it means. Convince me otherwise.

I have the same issues with my driveway camera.  Set the zone to be only the driveway, even moved the zone 1 foot in to not catch car lights.  Same experience, cars are setting off notifications as people. Since we all knows it’s machine learning we can safely assume the engineers at google no longer tweak the AI learning curves.  But, what google has the engineering team work on is wishing us happy birthday from the hubs.

Thanks for confirming this is a common issue. I think you are spot on with the analysis of the Engineering resources focus ……. Singing you happy birthday is of course much more higher priority than getting your security camera ‘person detect’ working correctly.
Let’s hope Google are not writing the software to spot the safe landing spot for the first mission to Mars ………
