Like countless others, I cannot connect a brand new Google floodlight cam to my Google Home app. Initially, the install choked at the very end after it connected to WiFi with the "something went wrong" 18.1 error, then after multiple resets, factory restores, and every other recommended troubleshooting step, it then wouldn't even connect to WiFi. I consistently get well north of 300Mbps at the floodlight location.
I have four Nest cameras + doorbell that all connected without issue yet for some inexplicable reason, this one is the outlier. I have attempted every troubleshooting recommendation under the sun. It is beyond frustrating to have spent the time and expense running electrical to a new location to get to what should be the easy part and for it not to work. Phone support consisted of someone reading off a script and while I understand the necessity of doing so and followed their instructions, there were no escalation options and the only answer they had was that this must be an issue with my ISP. This is clearly a known issue that Google can't be bothered addressing. Just a terrible experience.

Hello, I'm an end user like you. How frustrating.
Are you trying to add the new floodlight with it mounted outside? Because I believe you have to be inside near your phone and near another Nest device. And by 'near' I mean with in bluetooth range.
the only other thing I can thing to do is I'm going to escalate this and you will hear from a Google Tech person. Maybe they will be more knowledgable. Or offer to swap it out with another camera under warranty since it i brand new.
Good luck and I'd love to hear back as to how this plays out.

Hi bkab,
Thanks for posting in the community!
I'm sorry to hear that your Nest Cam with floodlight is having trouble connecting to your Google Home app. It's really frustrating when technology doesn't work as expected, especially when you've invested time and effort into setting it up. Don't worry; I'm here to help! Just to get started, I'd like to confirm some details with you. Can you please help me answer the next questions?
As @EmptyNester mentioned, a strong WiFi and Bluetooth connection is crucial. If you have an extra Nest Cam (battery), you could try using its pogo connector to connect it to the Nest Cam with floodlight (remember to first remove the Nest Cam from the floodlight). Then, attempt pairing the device inside your home.
In the meantime, if you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!
Best regards,
Nery.
