Google Hub issues

In the last few years I have noticed a steady decline in the quality of your products.

Nest doorbell for example- it takes too long to stream the camera from the time someone rings to see the feed either on my Iphone or the Google Hub.

I purchased an Aosu and it’s instant except that my Google Hub can’t livestream it because it thinks there is an issue when there is not.  My Alexa Hub had no issues.  Other third party devices  don’t work even though they are listed as compatible.  Again Alexa has no issues finding these devices and seamlessly operating them.

Please provide a reason why I should continue to have any faith in any of your products?

There is no reason, they are garbage now. I'm sure some Google "rep" will come along soon and tell you to submit feedback which will go nowhere.

I like the build quality, but the products fail in almost every other way sadly 😞

Hi folks

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, what are the troubleshooting steps have you done so far? How far are they from your Wi-Fi router? You may try restarting your Nest Doorbell, iPhone, Google Nest Hub and your Wi-Fi router to refresh their connections to the Nest servers.

Emerson,

wi-fi proximity is not an issue- about 20 feet away with average mbps at about 800.  As for the other suggestions they have already been tried.  The only thing that will work is software updates on Google’s end. Bought a cheap Aosu doorbell which is very responsive compared to Nest-it would be great however if third party devices would work as advertised with Google Home or assistant.

Hi all,

Thanks for chiming in, @Super_paulie and Emerson.

I'm sorry to hear that you have experienced dissatisfaction with the quality and performance of Google products, specifically the Nest Doorbell and compatibility with third-party devices. It's important to note that technology products can sometimes experience compatibility issues or performance inconsistencies due to various factors, including software updates, network configurations, or specific device interactions. Google typically release regular software updates to address bugs, improve performance, and enhance compatibility with third-party devices. Here are some steps you can take:

  1. Keep your Nest Doorbell, Google Home devices, and related software updated by checking for available firmware and software updates, which often include bug fixes and improvements to resolve issues.
  2. Even though you mentioned that Wi-Fi proximity is not an issue, it's worth verifying the signal strength in the area where the Nest Doorbell and other devices are located. Weak Wi-Fi signals can cause delays or interruptions in streaming and connectivity. Consider moving your router closer to the devices or using Wi-Fi range extenders if needed.
  3. Ensure your router's settings are free from any specific configurations or restrictions that could impact device performance, as some routers have specific settings for determining traffic or devices, which can be adjusted for improved performance.
  4. A mesh network system can improve Wi-Fi coverage and performance in specific areas of your home by combining multiple access points to create a unified network, reducing dead zones and enhancing overall connectivity.
  5. If you're experiencing persistent issues, try performing a reset on the problematic devices (following the manufacturer's instructions) and reconfigure them from scratch. This can sometimes help resolve compatibility or performance issues.

Let us know if that helps.

Best,

Zoe

I think whoever is offering help is barking up the wrong tree.  This is a very simple problem but unfortunately it’s frustrating as a user.  It has been confirmed by Aosu that their doorbell camera has encryption issues with Google.

The simple solution is either Google or Aosu fix it or if neither can’t remove this product as a 3rd party bind.
