Google Nest Battery Doorbell not calling on my devices, though notifying me on phone

Einarkristian
Community Member

Installed my Google Nest Doorbell (battery) some weeks ago. Already have 8 mini / max / hub in my house. The problem is that it only notifies me on my devices in the house  about 50% of the times when someone is pushing the button. It always notifies me on my phone (which means that the connection is fine). Any idea what can cause this issue?

Hi there, I have exactly the same problem so you are not alone. Tried taking off the camera and charging it but not luck.

Experiencing exactly the same issue. Tried to reset both doorbell as well as smart speakers several times, reconnecting everything in the Google Home app, trying all possible settings, resetting router, etc. however no results. Issue occurs since several weeks; prior to this everything just worked fine for about one year. Frustrating not being able to find the issue. What can I do to solve this?

I have the exact same problem - i reset all my devices and initially it's working fine - but after a while the notification on my Nest Hubs just stops... thus the product is not trustworthy...

Potential buyers be warened... !

Same here. I even factory-reset all of my Nest Hub (2nd Gen) and Nest Audio devices, as well as my Nest Doorbell (Battery). But the problem persists.

When someone pushes the Doorbell, I get a notification on my phone 5–10 seconds later... long enough that I miss deliveries. But at least I get the notification. On the other hand, my Nest Hub and Audio devices will ring around 50% of the time — with a 10–20 second delay — and the other 50% of the time, they don't wake up to the Doorbell.

Thanks for feedback. Good to know that it’s not only me having this problem. FYI: ultimate test today - Halloween. And for some reason it worked well today. Every time I got a notification, my devices also made a sound (about 30 times in total). The only change I have made, is that I changed the ringtone to the Halloween theme. Fingers crossed

That's funny; I experienced the same effect with this special ringtone; problem temporary solved? Let's see how things will work after Halloween 😉

Google Doorbell for me has recently stopped ringing on my Google Hub Max altogether & I cannot get it to do it again. The notifications do come through immediately to my iPhone & Apple Watch through Google Home though. In addition, all 3 of my Google Nest Minis went offline & had to be turned off & on to get going again, yet my 2 Lenovo smart speakers clocks stayed online. Do you have a fix yet?

We eventually worked out our issue - no online suggestion of this, we just stumbled on the fix. On our Google Nest Hub Max there was a little minus symbol at the top left. It had somehow been set to "do not disturb". Clicked on it, changed it, everything fixed. No idea how it changed to do not disturb but is worth checking for others. Hope that helps someone else.

When you say "checking in to make sure that you've seen our responses," are you asking us if the totally useless non-answers that the Community Specialists posted here made it absolutely clear that this forum is definitely not the place to get actual help?

Looking back on all this, I'm not sure why I even posted anything here to begin with. My success rate for receiving actual help via Google's community-based support system is zero.

I imagine many of the folks who've experienced these same issues have since moved on to other solutions (for example, installing another brand of doorbell), which explains why this topic has gone quiet.

I got no advice from the specialists here but just knowing that others were facing the issue made me dive into it deeper. I stumbled onto the answer for my issue myself by dumb luck but had listed it above if it helped anyone else: "We eventually worked out our issue - no online suggestion of this, we just stumbled on the fix. The «Halloween fix» was temporary. Now it is back to only work 50 % of the times…

Same here - halloween fix worked but it’s now not working again. Very frustrating, not resolved!

Michieljadejong

Same here; issue is back again. So @EmersonB do you have a fix for us? Because a non-reliable doorbell is worthless to be honest…

Yeah, I am not sure why @janthadeus were asking whether everything was covered - as I have not seen anything that looks like a solution to the problem… the halloween ringtone didn’t change a thing at my place - I still only get a message on my phone, and NONE of my 4 Nest Hubs or 2 google Home… and the push notification is 10-15 secs delayed on my phone…

@Bradwhy ask us that, when a Solution havent even been suggested?

we need a solution and engaged supporters, not empty “just checking in” statements.

Brad, I submitted the form that you posted in one of the other threads covering this bug, but I haven't yet received an email from Google Support.

We need help @Brad; what's your suggestion. Just checking won't solve anything.
