Google Nest Camera - stopped working, removed from neatwork and cant get the 6 digit code - 20' high

Hello friends.  I had ADT install an outdoor nest camera on our new home ~ 6 months ago.  Recently, the camera would go off-line from time to time.  The frequency of this issue got worse until it went off line for a couple days.  At that time, I found advice online to remove and re-add the camera.  I was able to remove it, simple right.  Now I am unable to re-add the camera as I cannot get to the QR code or the 6 digit code necessary to do so as the camera is ~ 20' in the air.

Do I have any options w/o paying someone to come and access the camera by hand?

Help please

Unfortunately, you need either the QR code (printed on a removable sticker on the front of the battery camera) or the 6-character alphanumeric Setup Code printed on the bottom of the battery camera. If you have the older (wired) Google Nest Outdoor Camera, both codes are printed on the back of the camera.

Hello RichandShelly69,

Thanks for posting here in the Community. Usually, ADT technicians will leave the box of the Nest camera with the QR code sticker inside, so they may try to look for the box first. But if you happen to misplace the box, you may try to contact ADT support and ask for a technician to help you remove the Nest camera from the mounting bracket and get the entry key code. Check out this link to Contact Us and someone from our team will help you get support from ADT.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Thanks for the help, @MplsCustomer

Best,
Edmond

Hello again, friends.  I have an update to our non-functioning next camera.  My visited for the holidays and climbed up to get the set-up-code.  I have tried to reconnect the removed device w/o success.

Attempted:

Google Home App x 4

Next App x 4

Any advice is welcome.  I am starting to think this may be a warrantee item???

Thanks in advanvce and Happy Holidays!

If your camera was installed 6 months ago, you probably have the 2nd gen Google Nest Battery Camera (indoor/outdoor). If that's what you have, then it can only be installed in the Google Home app.

What happens after you select "Continue without scanning" and enter the 6-character alphanumeric Setup Code? Is your camera plugged in with the optional power cable, or it is running on battery power? If it is running on battery power, is the battery charged?

If you can't get it reinstalled, you could try the "Contact Us" link that @EdmondB provided above.

Thank you @MplsCustomer  - What happens question - After entering the code from the camera and acknowledging several items like camera type and consent to help google stuff, the google shapes spin for a period and apparently times out with the "Something went wrong" with advice to toggle airplane mode and rebooting device and try again.

@RichandShelly69

Yeah, that "Something went wrong" message is not very helpful. When installing a camera, Google Nest now usually tries to communicate with another Google Nest camera on the same Wi-Fi network in order to get the Wi-Fi credentials (supposedly to save us from having to enter the network name [SSID] and password). I suppose you could try taking your camera down and trying to install it while it is near another Google Nest device. Or you could try again, and hope that it's a temporary glitch on the Google Nest servers that resolves itself. Or you could try contacting Support.

Hey there!

Thanks a lot for sending that information. I just wanted to give you a quick tip: if you ever reconnect your Nest Camera to the Google Home app, you'll need to reset your Nest device to factory settings.

You'll know if you haven't reset the Nest camera because the LED light will be green. When it's been reset, the light on the Nest camera will flash blue.Just want to make sure before we move forward - have you factory reset your Nest camera yet?

Here is a link on how to restart or factory reset Nest camera or doorbell.

Thanks for the help, @MplsCustomer

Cheers,
Edmond
