Google Nest Doorbell won't re-attach to its mounting bracket

After re-charging, the doorbell won't re-attach to its mounting bracket.  It appears the little retractable pin near the top of the device remains fully retracted, and will not extend out to engage the mounting hole on the bracket.  I've tried a bit of lubricant but that does not help.

Hello,  I'm not sure what is going on but I'm going to try and escalate this and see if we can get you some help directly from he folks at Google.    Is it less than a year old?

Yes, it was installed August 11, 2023.
