Google Nest Hub doesnt receive notifications from doorbell

Johnny_B

Hi there,

I have the strange issue with the Nest Hub and Doorbell (battery) where I dont receive notifications on Hub anymore. I am receiving notifications on phone but on hub not. Firstly, I have observed that no notifications are received when the spotify is on, or after I am using google asisstant. The short workaround was to go to camera and delete all events, than rings on hub, but if I use anything else on display it stops ringing. On phones, as I wrote, I am becoming notifications every time in google home app.

regards

J.

Things are happening again. I keep getting notifications on phone but on nest hub there are no notifications. I was wondering if there are known issues with WiFi because I saw a few times in home app that the device is offline but on the router I dont see anything. Has anyone some hint?

Hey there,

Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally. I would also suggest that you try to uninstall the app, and download it again after a restart.

Best regards,
Brad

Hi Brad,

I have done it many times. I have also changed on my router the settings from WiFi 6 to WiFi 5 because I read somewhere that nest has generally issues with channel switching on WiFi 6. After that it hasnt changed that much, nest doesnt respond sometimes, and sometimes is working. What I also did, I have enabled display picture change every 30 seconds from my picture gallery so it can contact photos in cloud more often (dont know if this really works like this), but that made some improvement. Nevertheless, I see sometimes in Google Home app that the device is grayed out (not offline) and when I click sometimes needs some time to check what is on the display and show it also there, and sometimes is not shown at all (not sure if this is an issue). Anyway, thanks on your answer. I need to say that I restarted the device more than 30 times till now and resetet it to factory settings at least 6 or 7 times.

Hi folks,

Thanks for your help here, Brad.

We’re sorry to hear that. We appreciate your efforts here. Let’s sort this out — going over the steps might help here:

  1. Open the Home app .
  2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
  3. In the top right, tap Settings > Doorbell.
  4. Turn Visitor announcements on or off.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks,

JT

hi there,

I think that the Net Hub has generally poor performance with WiFi 5 and 6 standards so there is nothing to be done here. I have tested with two different routers but with same performance. You can close the topic. Thanks for your support
