Google Nest Integration Has Ruined the Product

The decision to phase out the Nest app is a massive blunder that can’t be overstated. The look, interface and ease of use is light years ahead of the Google Home app. It’s not worth having everything in one place when you’re degrading a premium product in the process. I just bought new cameras only to discover they will not integrate with the Nest App any longer. I was an early adopter, have several Nest products and loved the system up until Google took over. I’m now ready to throw away all of that investment and start over with a different product since I can no longer use the app. Nest did all the work, Google just threw it away. The interface and (lack of) content in the Google Home App has turned the Nest from a top end product to one I discourage others from adopting. What a waste…

I totally agree.  I have had the nest cameras at my home and loved how easy they were to set up and use.  The nest app is the best.  I suggested Nest cameras for work and it is a nightmare.  All the "easy" setup is gone and the app is very unfriendly compared to the nest app.  Very dissatisfied.  Now, I can't figure out how to get access to the receptionist on the computer.  I don't want her to have to use her phone.  Nest was so easy:-(

The Google Home App doesn't need updates.  You guys should just support the Nest App.  I get you want to put everything in one central, convenient location.  But you bought Nest.  Part of that investment should have been using the software the Nest customers signed up for before you showed up.  It's not like Google Home is a little worse, it's so much worse it feels like software several generations older than the Nest App.  Let those who want to migrate to the Home app do it, and don't block new hardware from using the Nest App.  I know you're just trying to smoke out the legacy users and repopulate with new subscribers that don't know better, but our replacement system will not be Nest products unless they use the Nest app.
