Its not just inconvenience, I can take inconvenience, its unreliability. I honestly cannot reply on any nest product, aka google's mess-up.
Let's take nest doorbell (battery). Its connected to power source all the time but sometimes it says that the battery will run out in x number of weeks and then it corrects itself after a few days. The worst part is that when someone rings the bell and I want to respond on my cellphone, it image never loads or it takes a long time to load and meanwhile I cannot respond to the person at the door and since I cannot respond, the person leaves. Whats the point of having a fancy expensive doorbell when it does not even work? The older original nest doorbell was SO SO SO much better but google messed it up, big time as always. I have resetted it many times, but nothing, its the same crappy experience. Like I said, its unreliable.
Now, lets take the floodlight camera, the floodlight turns on but never turns off and there are times when it stayed on throughout the night when there is no motion, no vehicles, no person, no sounds, nothing, it stays on all the night. If I happen to catch it when it is on, I manually turn it off in the Home app. When I want to check the camera feed, same experience, its either not connected to my network, or it cannot load the image, or it takes a long time to load, it is such a bad product that I regret buying it. Of course I have resetted it many times. BTW, this is the replacement unit that google sent me when my original one'd floodlight would not even turn off. I had to cut power out. I used to have a $30 amazon floodlight with motion sensor that worked so much better but I was a fool that wanted to go all google and wasted my money.
I have another battery camera mounted, same experience, takes a hell of a time to load the pic.
You want to talk about the google home app :). I honestly dont know why google takes a perfectly nice working product and the application and destroy it completely. The home app is a piece of junk. This is coming from someone that has been in app development for more than 2 decades. The home app is so crappy that I cannot even image it came from google.
You want to talk about chromecast products, same unreliable experience. It casts sometimes when it wants to.
- When did the issue start? Since day 1.
- How many cameras or doorbells do you have? Too many to count.
- Do you have the same issue with all the devices? Yes.
- How far are the devices from the Wi-Fi network? I have a mesh network and every single device on my network works flawlessly without any problems except nest products. I have no dead zone in my house. Trust me I know, I am in tech and understand networks very well.
- Is this the first time that you are experiencing this issue? Nope, always had issues.
- What type of cameras and doorbells do you have? All nest. Check your website. All next camera.
- Did you notice any error messages? Cannot load the image right now. Please wait... Please try again.....
- What app are you using? Google home.
I am not looking for a solution. You can probably tell, wanted to let the community know to not waste money on google products. They are crazy expensive and are not worth it.
If you happen to have a solution, I am all ears.
I am done with google. Not a single more penny going to google.
