@Nmfrasca

I've seen a number of similar posts from customers reporting battery issues with their floodlight camera.

One thing to check is whether--if your floodlight camera is on a switched circuit--the switch is always on.  You could also check whether there's any corrosion on the USB plug that plugs into the bottom of the camera.

You SHOULD not have battery issues.  We've had a battery camera (the same camera used in the floodlight fixture) since Sept. 2021--plugged in with their optional power cable--and it's been live and online ever since.  Under Settings | Battery, it always shows as "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol unless we unplug the camera.

Hi Nmfrasca,

Thanks for reaching out to our community.

I’m sorry to hear that your hardwired floodlight camera says empty battery and consequently is offline. No worries; help is here.

To provide you with better assistance, please answer the following questions:

  • Do you have a wired or a wireless setup?
  • Are you able to check the camera feed?
  • Did you receive any notification from the Google Home app?
  • Did you notice or experience any power outages recently?
  • Are the power connectors facing up or down when in normal use (wall socket adapter and pogo connector)?
  • Are there any signs of debris, corrosion, or damage in the wall adapter’s pins, the pogo connector’s pins, or sockets?
  • Could you let me know which cable you use to charge the camera?
  • If your floodlight camera is connected externally, could you tell me if you are using a specific cable designed for external use?
  • Could you tell me what happens when you charge your floodlight camera battery?

Besides the previous information, I would appreciate it if you could verify the camera’s battery state. Please follow the next instructions:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Verify that the Google Account shown at the top right is the one linked to the camera. To switch accounts, tap your account photo or initials, then tap the drop-down arrow and select the correct account.
  3. Tap Favorites (the heart icon) or Devices (the square with bar icon).
  4. Select the camera from the list of devices.
  5. Tap Settings.
  6. Under Device features, tap Battery.
  7. Please let me know the status of the battery icon you can see (color, level, or symbol).

Thanks for your kind attention; I will be looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

Virna
