Help Please - 2 issues with new Wired Doorbell Gen 2

Hello,

I've spent all weekend trying to get this installed, and finally got it up. My house is older, so had some trouble. Here are my questions.

1.) It seems every time someone walks in front of the Nest Doorbell, the indoor chime goes off, and will keep going off every so often as long as it's seeing motion and a person. Even though in the Google Home app for IOS, I have chime completely off. I don't even want the indoor chimes to go off.

2.) Will Google Home not alert my phone when it detects someone or someone pushes the doorbell? I never get a notification to my iphone that its seeing someone or that someone has even pushed the doorbell button. I've ensured that push notifications and all notifications are on for Google Home on my iPhone.

Any help? Thanks,

Hi rsnate,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. The Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen) has higher power requirements than most doorbells. You need a transformer that is rated for 16-24 V AC, 10-40 VA to provide enough power to your doorbell. If you've already installed your doorbell and you see a blinking yellow light on the front, your doorbell isn't receiving enough power. Try turning off and on your push notification, restart your Nest Doorbell and Wi-Fi router.

To restart:

  1. Locate the reset pin hole on the back of the Nest Doorbell.

Tip: The reset pin on the Nest Doorbell 2nd gen (wired) is located above the QR code on the back of the doorbell.
  2. Press and hold for 5 seconds.
  3. Your Nest Doorbell will restart, and the status light will be steady, solid white.

Regards,

Emerson

The light is blue, it's not yellow. Which means it has enough power. So that isn't the issue.

Hello rsnate,

I appreciate the help. If you're seeing a pulsing blue light, that means it's ready to connect to the app. This is usually the light status after a factory reset or first time installation. To confirm, have you tried resetting it to the factory default? Also, try checking what is the current power of your transformer?
