How can you review familiar faces previously dismissed?

SFWD

Today when I was reviewing my familiar faces feed from my Nest doorbell, I answered no to the question 'do you recognise this person'.

Then I went and searched my feed to find the unrecognised person and realised he was sneaking around my property.

So now I would like to find the dismissed faces and give his face a name so I can use the filter and see all the videos he appears in.

Is there a way you can reset the faces and go through the thought process again, or review previously dismissed faces?

Super frustrating.

Hi SFWD,

Thanks for posting in our Community. I’m sorry to hear you’re having trouble with this. No worries; we'll check this out.

Do you have a Nest Aware subscription? Are you using the Google Home or Nest app?

There are a few ways to find and categorize unfamiliar faces in the Home app.

Settings:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Settings > Subscriptions > Nest Aware> Familiar face detection.
  3. If your camera has detected new people, you can tap New faces to find and categorize them.
  4. For each new face, tap Yes, No, or Not a person. Then, follow the on-screen prompts to identify the face.

To find anything you’ve tagged as Not a person, go to Familiar face detection > tap Options > Faces that aren’t people.

Home app's Activity:

  1. Open the Google Home app.
  2. Tap Activity.
  3. Choose an unfamiliar face event or group of events.
  4. Tap Add to face library, and then follow the prompts to identify each face your camera didn’t recognize.

Camera event details:

  1. Tap the camera event in the Home app's Activity.
  2. Once the clip is opened, swipe up for more details.
  3. In the "Faces" category, tap Manage, then follow the prompts to identify the faces your camera didn’t recognize.

Follow the steps below if you use the Nest app.

  1. Open the Nest app.
  2. Select your camera.
  3. At the bottom of your camera’s Sightline, tap People.
  4. If your camera has detected new people, you should be asked whether you know them. Select Yes or No.
  5. If your camera misidentifies an object as a face, tap the drop-down menu and select This isn’t a person.
  6. Anything you’ve tagged as not a person, such as your pet, a painting, the TV, etc., shows up in the Not a face category in your familiar faces library.

More information here.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Lance

It seems you misunderstood. I know how to use the Familiar Faces process. Hence my question:

- Is there a way to review previously dismissed faces?

I.e. after you say "No", can you find that face again and change that to a "Yes"?

Hello SFWD,

Thanks for getting back to me. Aside from going back to the Nest cameras' event history and finding the dismissed faces again, there is no option to review previously dismissed faces.

I understand that this would be a helpful feature, but this option is not available. We encourage you to send us feedback, and we are excited to see what possibilities lie ahead as we incorporate our users' feedback and suggestions.

Let me know if you have additional questions; otherwise, I'll be locking the thread within 24 hours.

Regards,

Lance
