How to Record video on Google nest cam from the Google home app?

I have added some new Nest Cameras, but see they are now on a different app (Google Home). Not thrilled at all. I am trying to figure out a way to record video clips like I can with the nest apps. However I have not been successful. It seems I can only record video footage from events. This is completely unacceptable and I am hoping that’s not the case. I pay for a service that records all video 24/7 for up to 60 days. What good is it if I can’t record it.  Is it time to switch to a different product line?  I am still within my return period.  Thanks for any help.

I wish I would've known how bare bones Google Home/Nest was before I purchased my cameras.  In order to make a clip (outside of an event) from your 24/7 recording you have to resort to using something such as the screen recording function on your phone.  Which, oh by the way, is the only way to kinda get a date/timestamp on your recording.  Events downloaded do not have a date/timestamp.  Something so basic most people probably haven't noticed.  My dashcam can add date, time, GPS coordinates and speed.

You have no control on the minimum clip length.  So when you have a need to combine clips and the period in between to show cops when your mailbox was hit, it looks ridiculous.  In my case the clip was useless anyways because the last firmware update, 1.67, ruined the image quality.  A month ago...

Not sure if we can post links, but android police has a Google Nest Cam review from almost TWO years ago which could have been written last week.

Sorry about the negativity.  I'm mad about my mailbox.

Id return them and buy another brand if i could. Mine have been a nightmare for over a year they're utter garbage... Only way ive seen users able to record the way you want is to do a talk n listen event... Oh i forgot also you need constant power to record 24/7 otherwise no cigar

Hello folks,

@Chrisn997, thanks for reaching out. I understand you want you to create your desired clips however, we don't have any news to share about applying this feature to the Google Home app. We're always looking for ways to improve and we'll take it as feedback. I'd suggest you send feedback using this link to let the Google Engineering team know about your concern. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this. Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns as I will be locking this after 24 hours. Feel free to start a new thread and we'll be happy to help.

@Anonymous, thanks for chiming in.

I appreciate your response, AA2077.
