How to setup a Nest Doorbell Battery to use a Nest mini as a chime?

Hi all,

On my network  (Nest wifi pro) I have:

- A Nest Doorbell Battery (unwired)

- A Nest Mini

I can see both in my Google Home app but haven't yet figured out how I can use my Mini as a chime with my brand new doorbell. I have been googling all over the place and have to admit it's a bit confusing.

Could someone point me at the right place OR just let me know if it's even possible.

Thanks

To close the loop and give credit where it's deserved, with the help of the Google Nest support team, via chat, we managed to get this one solved.

If/when you want to use your Nest Mini as a chime for your Nest Doorbell Battery, make sure to disable on your Nest Mini Notification Do Not Disturb set to OFF.

That one made the trick in my case

Turn on "Visitor announcements" in your doorbell's Settings:

It's on

@jean_richert

I've seen lots of posts from customers seeming to have trouble getting "Visitor announcements" to work with the battery doorbell. I don't know why; maybe there's some defect. We have 3 of the older Nest Hello Doorbells and "Visitor announcements" work just fine for us.

You could try contacting Support (https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp). If you get someone who tells you that it's not possible (as some customers have been told), ask to talk to someone knowledgeable. Google Nest sells the battery doorbell with the Nest Mini; it would make no sense for "Visitor announcements" to not work.

Are your battery doorbell and Nest Mini in the same Google Nest "home/structure"?

@MplsCustomer , have been googling and indeed saw on several places people reporting the same challenge I'm experiencing.

I see both devices through Google Home App under Wifi - Devices. When checking each, they are both on my mesh. It seems all good from that perspective. Not sure what could be wrong here.

@jean_richert

Can you see both in the Google Home app (not under Wifi), in whatever rooms you have set up?

Is your Nest Mini set to "Do not disturb?"

Yes, I see both but I have set these up in 2 different rooms. Would that be an issue?

@jean_richert

Having them in 2 different "rooms" is fine.  They just have to be in the same Google Nest "home/structure".

Nest Support connected my device and saw it's not linked to my account. Will try a factory reset and see how it goes from there on.
