How to turn off notifications for people seen but NOT doorbell ring

Simon_Herrmann1

I feel like this should be straightforward but I can't work it out.

I want to get notified on the phone when someone rings the doorbell, but not when I walk past my doorbell.

I seem to only have either both or none.

In Home app > doorbell > Settings > Events > Seen Events, I toggled off events (people/package/animals/vehicles/motion) - but now I don't get notified at all, even when someone rings the doorbell.

When I turn it off I get 20 notifications a day, whenever someone from the house walks past.

How can I get "ring" notifcations only??

@Simon_Herrmann1

We have only the older Google Nest Hello Doorbells. With those, phone notifications for when the doorbell is pressed is controlled by the "Push notifications" setting in the Google Nest app. I believe the same thing is true of the newer Google Nest doorbells, under Settings | Notifications for your doorbell in the Google Home app.

Yes thank you for the answer. The issue is however that there is just one toggle for notifcations - on or off. So either you get notified for everything (as in "people walking past" and "ringing the doorbell") but there is no way as far as I can tell to only get notifed when someone rings. and not of all the people walking past.

With our older Google Nest Hello Doorbells, we have "Push notifications" turned on. If we separately turn off all of our "people" and "motion" notifications, etc., we will then get just notifications for when the doorbell is rung.

Does the 2nd Gen doorbell not work this way?

Hi everyone,

@Simon_Herrmann1, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To know more about this issue, I’d like to confirm, do you have an activity zone setup? If so, were you able to check if the outside of the zone and inside zone are turned off? Try turning on and off the seen events. Also, try restarting your Nest Camera. Hit this link to learn more.

Let us know your update here.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.
