How to view google nest outdoor camera on a PC?

DavidBrooks

Hello!

I have long been able to view my Google Nest Doorbell cameras from https://home.nest.com
I have some of the Google Nest 2.0 Outdoor cameras. They do not show up on that page. Is there a different URL I should be using? I can view them in the Google Home App on my phone but it defeats the point of having a high quality camera if I am viewing them on a tiny phone screen. I have my nice big 29" 4k monitors that are much better for viewing my camera feeds on.

Best,
David Brooks

Hi,

Currently 2 Gen cameras and doorbell's can only be viewed from the Google Home app.

In a blog post linked below Google has said...

This has been an important feature request, so we’re developing a new Google Home on Web for the new Nest cameras and doorbell allowing users to view their cameras on the Web. This will be coming in 2022.

Howdy Cathal!

Thanks for the good information! We are half way through 2022. Does Google have a more exact date when the new website will be released? I have two of the Google Nest 2.0 Outdoor Battery cameras. The only thing keeping me from buying many more is the lack of a website to view them on.

Hi David,

I wish I had more information about this for you but I am also a normal user and that's all Google has shared so far, sorry.

You can leave feedback for the team as I and many others have already done requesting this is added as soon as possible.

I am still waiting on Google to release a web page that will allow me to view and manage my Outdoor Battery Nest Cameras 2.0. I can view them on my phone through the Google Home app but I still need a way to view them on my 4k display.

No ETA on a Google Home  web app. Though I know that was part of the plan.

Do you have any Pro Tips to get Google to release more info on getting the Google home web app going? This is the one feature I desperately want! It is quite upsetting that the previous generation of cameras worked on the web and the new generation took that feature away. That is one of my top three features and they just took it away for some reason.

Only suggestion I have would be to continue to wait, and provide your feedback and Feature Requests via the app.

Yes, I still need the link to the webpage that will let me view my new Google Nest Gen 2 Indoor/Outdoor Battery cameras via my web browser. I can view them on my phone in the home app but I also need to view them through a webpage on my laptop. Google said they were bringing this feature to us in 2022. I am hoping they have it ready??

Yes, not sure why but they forced new cameras to use the Home app without telling anyone and it not being ready. Surprise, your new Nest camera will not work with the Nest app that has more features and has all your other cameras in it. Not sure what they are thinking. 😞

I don't know whether to put any weight into this post or not, but yesterday (June 😎 Google Nest Community Specialist Azarco posted this comment:

"In the near future, we’ll allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app."

I've not tried but I thought this was already possible. With the current state of the home app, I'm not sure who would want to move their cameras to it. The Nest app is way better. You can look at your cameras on your PC, what a concept.  Just the video scrubbing that actually works really nicely is worth it. When their AI misses events, searching through the video in the home app is basically useless.

This is Google we're talking about, they must have all kinds of people that could work on this, and they force you to use the Home app that's missing features and or doesn't work.
