I can't add the Doorbell (gen1) to the Nest Home app

Hi there,

I can't add the Doorbell (gen1) to the Nest Home app? I see the button in the app, but I can't click on it or select it.

And when I try to add the Doorbell with my phone Home app, it let's me follow all the steps for installation but when it's adding the doordell to the rest of the products, it just stops... Is there a issue that I don't know of?

I had a very similar problem a few months ago trying to add a 1st generation doorbell to both the Nest application and to the Home application. I traded the 1st generation doorbell for a 2nd generation doorbell and I was able to connect it to the Home application. It has worked fine since then.

@Ymer

What doorbell do you actually have? You say you have a "Doorbell (gen1)" but the option selected in your post says "Nest Doorbell (wired Gen 2)".

If you actually have a gen 1 doorbell (the Google Nest Hello Doorbell), it gets installed in the Google Nest app. (The battery doorbell and the 2nd gen Google Nest Doorbell both get installed in the Google Home app.)

Hello everybody,
thanks for all the responses, it helped me a lot.
The solution for me was to completely disconnect and reset the doorbell. All power off and briefly on the table, pressed the reset button, on the back and reinstalled the software.
Tried it again and it all worked magically 😉
