Hi, I have an iPhone and it does not audibly notify me when someone rings the doorbell, although it does notify me on the Apple Watch. Another thing is that there is a delay which means that I can't converse with whoever was there because they've gone.
In my settings, I'm pretty sure I've ticked all the boxes I'm supposed to. I've even wired it to my doorbell thinking that will help. No joy though.
Any help will be appreciated.

For some reason, Google Nest seems to only provides a doorbell chime notification sound ("ding-dong") in the Google Nest app for 1st gen Google Nest doorbells, and does not do so in the Google Home app.

Actually I have the Google Home ap and I can choose from a few chimes. I've chosen Westminister. That part works fine. My issue is with it notifying my Iphone. I did get a little sound once. Nowhere near enough to get my attention and it's always too late for me to talk to person delivering package as they've gone by the time I get notification.

Judging from other posts I've seen in this forum, I think, in the Google Home app, Google Nest does not provide a doorbell notification sound for doorbell button presses, but I could be wrong, since our three doorbells are Nest Hellos that work in the Google Nest app.
I don't know what you mean by "I can choose from a few chimes. I've chosen Westminister. That part works fine." That's not an option in the Google Nest app.

I have Google Home and I can choose from 7 different chimes.

As just another Google Nest customer, I don't think I can help further.
The impression I have from other posts in this forum is that, unlike the older Google Nest Hello Doorbell installed in the Google Nest app, which provides a single, non-configurable "ding-dong" notification sound to a phone or mobile device when the doorbell button is pressed, doorbells in the Google Home app only provide a standard notification sound when the doorbell button is pressed. It sounds like you are reporting something different.
I could also note that, when I'm wearing my Apple Watch, any notifications get sent only to my watch.
As far as the chime selection you referenced, are you by any chance referring to Doorbell Themes? In the Google Nest app, this option is only available for Seasonal Themes when it is close to a holiday, and applies only to the sound played on the doorbell itself and on Nest Hubs and Nest Minis when the "Visitor announcements" option is enabled.

I don't have the Google Nest App, I have the Google Home App.
I think I'd rather get notifications on my phone than my watch and a single 'ding' is not enough, especially if it's noisy or I am distracted, working etc. I heard that the Ring doorbell allows for longer chimes. Perhaps Google should look at updating its app so that it can do the same.
