Is Google Home ever going to let users view cameras from a browser?

Seriously... Not letting users view their cameras from a browser is a massive security flaw! It's also a huge regression from Nest. I've lost my phone when traveling but have never lost my laptop.

hi JetCityPD,  I'm an end user like you and MANY people here have been waiting for this for over 9 months now (that is when the gen 2 camera were released).  I ended up just buying some used Gen 1 cams from eBay and using the older NEST app and I'm a happy camper as those you can view from a browser.

Hi EmptyNester. I've used Nest products since shortly after they launched. When Google purchased them I gasped. Big tech has a way of destroying goodness through acquisitions. At first I was impressed by how Google let Nest be Nest. It only took a few years for Google to decide it was better than Nest. Now google has literally destroyed any hope of being able to live upto the Nest name IMO.

I have two platforms on my phone and only use one... Yes, it's the Nest one. My new outdoor security cameras are designed to be mounted at about eye-level and these security cameras are held in place by a freaking magnet! I had to glue my security cameras in place so nobody would walk off with them!!!!

If Google can't correct this mess they've created, I think I'll be forced to find security cameras designed to be secure that I can view from any browser. I can't even believe these are marketed as security cameras due to the inability to secure them in place out of the box!!!!!!!  Let alone the fact that they are dependant on an app only available to limited platforms!!!!!!!!

What is Google thinking????????? Or are they?

You are SPOT ON!   The magnet works for me because I have them mounted high up (which I know has visual draw backs). But why on earth couldn't the have included the screw-in mount option on the camera.  Makes no sense.  It was add literally $.50 to the cost of the product.

Can't you use web browser on newest gen Nest cams????? Holy **bleep** lol I was just considering getting a newest version to replace my faulty Outdoor Nest Cam (gen 1). I guess I'm simply forgetting about Nest after my other cam dies.

I don’t think Google hears us at all. Google, in all its infinite wisdom, planned this all along. If Google was listening, I would not have needed to post this comment for the google time!

What about secure outdoor security cameras? Google ever gonna bring those back or are magnets as secure as it gets with Google?

Shame on me for thinking Google would fix these glaring oversights and buying more cameras. I was a fool. Fool me once…

Locking it is the Google’s formal way of ignoring it… Go for it.

Please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns as I will be locking this thread in 24 hours.

I've seen your response. Locking the thread... Does that imply you are going to delete it or make it unviewable for other users? It really feels like Google is just sweeping this under the rug and not ever going to do that which is right.

Hey JetCityPD,

I'm sorry you feel that way. It's still viewable to other users so they can check the resolution of the issue after we locked the thread. The only thing is once it's locked, you can no longer reply to it.

Thanks,

Archie

Got it… Google is ending the conversation.

Google keeps saying this… I’ll believe it when it happens. I won’t be holding my breath!!!

Has anyone been able to actually confirm they programmers actively working on this?

Nope. But I think Google trying to shutdown the conversation says a lot.
