Move camera to new Google Home

I transferred my Nest Outdoor Camera from the Nest app to the Google Home app.   I then removed it from the Google Home app.  I’m now trying to set it up in a different Google Home account that’s under the same email address.  (Aka I have two Google Homes under one email account.).  In the set up process, when I scan the QR code, nothing happens:  my phone screen goes back to where you select the type of device to set up.  There is no reset button on my camera, so that’s not an option.   What should I do?

Whenever you remove a product, do a hard reset to avoid issues:

Let me know if that helps.

Judging from a couple of other posts, it seems that there might be some unresolved issues if you remove a 1st gen Google Nest camera from the Google Home app AFTER having "transferred" it from the Google Nest app to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app, and you then try to reinstall it. My guess (and it's just a guess) is that Google Nest has simply not yet provided a way to reinstall such a camera. (For example, since it was transferred from the Google Nest app to the Google Home app, which is the correct app to use to reinstall it?)

The two other posts, where Google Nest has NOT provided a solution, are below:

This post has instructions for contacting Support, but they were not able to help with a solution.)

It's not clear whether the customer was able to resolve the problem on this one.

Thank you very much for your reply.  You've confirmed that it "wasn't me", which makes me feel better.  🙂 I will still contact Support, on the off chance that maybe they've developed a solution.  If not, sounds like the only other option is to purchase newer cameras.

@Steve82

Good luck.

We've been avoiding the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app just because it's a test version, and we are not interested in "transferring" our 1st gen cameras because we still can't transfer our doorbells, because the Google Home app still lacks significant Nest app functionality, and because we would lose access to the home.nest.com website in favor of the extremely limited home.google.com website.

Is there any plans to carry over the video scrub search method to the google home app? I have one location with a next cam iq outdoor that I dont want to lose the scrubbing search feature  which is probably your situations as well?

@grandbeach-ca

Sigh.  I don't know.

We don't have IQ cameras, but I believe they're still not eligible for being "transferred" to the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app.

@Steve82

See the customer-posted solution on this thread; it seems you have to be using the beta "Public Preview" version of the Google Home app to add back a "transferred" camera.
