My Nest Cams don't allow to view history properly

I have Nest Cam (indoor/outdoor) and Nest Cam with floodlight with Nest Aware Plus. Over the last 6 months, almost 90% of the time when I click on history events videos, they just keep on turning but I can never view them just by clicking on them.  However, the clips can be downloaded to my Android pixel 8 phone for viewing. Only once in a blue moon, I can view them simply by clicking on individual clips.  Any help to fix this would be appreciated.  Just to let you know, my Internet is working properly and lightning fast, and I have restarted the cameras already, but this problem persists.  Thanks.

That's just how they work and don't expect any support from Google. If it's not too late I'd suggest returning them and investing in a system that actually supports their products.

I agree with you entirely but unfortunately the cameras were bought more than 2 years ago. So I can't return them and so have to make the best of them. They used to work ok until about 6 months ago.  And recently, they also stop sending notifications completely for events.  Then another day, everything works ok, only that the latter is a rarity. Their customer service? You meant non-service? Always a complete waste of time, and get your bp high.  Enough said.  Lol

That's a bummer. I'm in the same boat but I've been having problems for over a year. They have been unreliable for me. Yeah customer service is a complete joke.

I am really disappointed that nobody offers any help here yet.  Bummer!

No one can help because their products are broken. There's no fix unfortunately. I was thinking about contacting the State Attorney General to see if they can help. Google should be held accountable for their faulty products.

Hi folks,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties viewing the history events videos on your Nest Cams with Nest Aware Plus. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  1. Start by clearing the cache and data of the Nest app on your Android Pixel 8 phone. Sometimes, cached data can interfere with the playback of videos. To do this, go to your phone's Settings, find the Apps or Application Manager section, locate the Nest app, and then select Clear cache and Clear data. Please note that clearing data will log you out of the app, so make sure you have your login credentials handy.
  2. Ensure that you have the latest version of the Nest app installed on your Android Pixel 8 phone. App updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address playback issues. Visit the Google Play Store and check for any available updates for the Nest app.
  3. Confirm that your Android Pixel 8 phone meets the recommended specifications for running the Nest app. Make sure your phone's operating system is up to date and compatible with the app. Outdated operating systems or incompatible devices can sometimes cause playback issues.
  4. If clearing cache and data didn't resolve the problem, try uninstalling and reinstalling the Nest app on your Android Pixel 8 phone. This can help ensure a clean installation of the app, potentially resolving any software-related issues.

Let us know how it goes.

Zoe

Thanks Zoe for the reply. Before your suggestions, I have already tried installing and uninstalling both Home and Nest with no success. I have also cleaned the cache and data as you suggested, still no luck. The weird thing is over the last few months, there may be one day here and there that everything works fine. The current record is I have been unable to view history, nor received a single notification for over 1 month. Yes, my notifications are turned on, in case you wonder.  Hope you have other suggestions that would work.

Regards, Kenny
