My Nest Doorbell Battery says not for retail sale

I purchased a Google Nest Doorbell Battery from La Redoute on their pay in 3 service. I’ve received my Nest Doorbell today and the packaging says “for nest pro installation only. Not for retail sale. Sale without professional installation is strictly prohibited”.

As I’m completely new to Google Nest, I’m wondering if this doorbell is different to the doorbell they sell in retail stores? I’ve not been sold any professional installation so I’m wondering if this is something I’m not going to be able to install myself?

If anyone can shed any light I’d be grateful!

Hello GooNest87,

Thanks for posting here in the Community.  All Google Nest devices can be DIY-installed, depending on your system. For the Nest doorbell battery, there will be no issue if you install it yourself. The only difference is that if it’s installed by a Nest Pro technician, the warranty is extended compared to the regular warranty on a Google Nest Doorbell battery, which is 1 year. Here is a link to how Install the Nest Doorbell battery.

Thanks for the help, @MplsCustomer.

Let me know if you have additional questions.

Best,
Edmond

I'm just another Google Nest customer, but this does not seem right. Maybe you should ask "La Redoute" why they're selling this product when it seems intended to only get distributed by a "Nest Pro" and certainly seems that it is NOT intended for retail sale. Maybe Nest Pros get a discount on the product.

I’ve contacted their customer services with the images I’ve posted on here. I mean if it’s the same product that retail customers get but in a different box because they got it cheaper, I’m not that bothered and I’ll open it but I guess I’m just worried in case I’ll open it and it’s not the right thing and I can’t install It.
