Nest CAm 2nd generation: how add to Nest App?

I've added this Google Nest Cam, 2nd generation, to the Google home app where I see my Nest HVAC controllers BUT when go to add same camera to my older Nest app (where I usually control my Nest thermostats), it cant get it to connect or have a good option to "add" it.  Any suggestions?  I've tried it with the serial number and the QR code and and the 6 digit code on the camera but no luck. 

Are these 2nd generation cameras not being allowed to be added to the Nest app and only to Google Home app?

Sadly you have just discovered when many here have learned starting about 2 years ago.  The new nest cams only work in the Google Home app.  For me I returned the new camera and bought a used Gen 1 camera on Ebay and all is good.   Google is moving all the functions over to the Google Home app but it is taking a lot longer than expected.
