Nest Cam (Battery) useless!!

hollandnigel
Community Member

I have the Nest Cam (Battery) and it's useless,
Fully charged on Sunday, Empty today (Thursday)
It's the same all the time! It's my second camera as Google replaced the first.
I can't go away for a week's holiday knowing my home is safe because the camera will die before I return.
I paid for a 1080P battery camera that lasts approx 3 months, I do not want to turn the sensitivity or resolution down, because it's a security camera!!

My wired Nest Outdoor camera in the back garden has never been an issue, I don't think I have touched it since I installed it several years ago!!!

Hi there,

Thank you for your patience, I know that keeping your Nest devices charged is very important, and I would love to help you out. When it comes to keeping your Nest Doorbell (battery) or Nest Cam (battery) up and running, here are some articles and troubleshooting guides for the best charging practices:

  • This is a great article on general charging times for your devices.
  • This helpful article tells you how to save the battery with your doorbell or camera.
  • And this last article, will go over charging expectations when you may live in a cooler/colder environment which will address charging temperatures, etc.

I hope those articles help shed some light on charging and maintaining battery levels of your Nest doorbell or camera. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Best regards,

Brad

Yes, Like I said... the camera is useless!

  • It's always fully charged when it needs to be charged.
  • Your tips to save battery are to reduce the quality, how long it records, and the sensitivity!
Most likely meaning it will not record the vital information when needed!!!
  • I live in Spain so the climate thing is irrelevant

Hi there,

Let me know if you need anything from me, but I am just seeing how the conversation is going. We'll leave this thread open for a little longer for follow-up questions and concerns.

Best regards,

Brad

We aren't likely to resolve it unless you send me a power supply for this useless camera!!!

4 day battery life!?!

There isn't an option to install it wired, but you are welcome to do your own research online to see what other options you may have.

Misunderstanding, I understand you can install it wired, but I was stating we don't offer a 'power supply' for these cameras. They can be installed wirelessly, or wired in. No such option to add an additional power supply of some kind.

Best regards,

Brad

a 'Power supply' , in English, is something that supplies power.....

If you're referring to a transformer, then yes, one in the same. Were you able to resolve this inquiry? Or do you still need help?

Best regards,

Brad

Not resolved, still rubbish,

Recharged it about 4 times since I posted this.....

Most recently was yesterday infact!

Hi, Yes... I contacted support before I posted here, they wanted to replace my camera (again)

The only other solution for my 1080 security camera, is to turn down the resolution, sensitivity, and record time.......

pretty much defeats the object doesn't it......

And if my house is robbed, and the camera doesn't record it, who's fault will it be????

It doesn't need replacing, it needs a power lead,

The battery life is 4 days maximum, and that is unacceptable!
