Nest Cam IQ Outdoor moved to Google Home will not complete setup after factory reset

I have a Nest Cam IQ Outdoor that has been working fine for several years.  Last week I moved it to Google Home, it actually failed several times but then eventually did seem to work and was working in Home for  a few days before going offline.  I tried several things to get it back and finally resorted to resetting it to factory defaults.

If I try to set it up again in the Nest app it tells me I need to use the Home app since it has been moved.  Fine.

If I try to set it up in the Home app, it goes through connecting to wifi and just fine but then gets stuck with the rotating blue light and eventually the app tells me "Something went wrong - Setup is taking longer than expected". Trying again just results in the same thing.

If I cancel setup, the camera shows up as offline in the Home app.  Unplugging and plugging the camera in it flashes the blue ring then goes off like normal but again is just shown as offline in the app.  I can tell it is on my network, ping it, etc.  It just doesn't seem to be activating on Google's end.

I do have an open case but it has been a couple of days and I would really like to get my camera working again.  Has anyone else dealt with this problem or have any suggestions?

Hi Cheezmo,

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry that your Nest Cam IQ Outdoor isn’t able to connect to your Google Home app. I understand how frustrating this can be. I really appreciate the effort to troubleshoot the situation. I’m here to help.

Before I begin, I need to ask a few questions for further assistance:

  • How far have you gotten in pairing your device?
  • How far is the device from the router?
  • Can you connect to the internet with other devices?
  • Are there any other devices that experience troubles with the Wi-Fi?
  • Are there devices or appliances (such as baby monitors, microwaves, cordless phones, etc.) near the device you want to pair?

Please keep me posted. I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Byron

It successfully connects to WIFI (camera chimes and flashes green light then then stalls on "Getting your device ready - This may take a minute" which eventually times out and says "Something went wrong - Setup is taking longer than expected".  At that point the camera is just spinning blue light.

The camera does get added to my account and says it is offline.  I can see from the router that it is on my wifi network and I can ping it.  It has been used on this same network since I purchased it several years ago. I have moved it in the house close to the wifi for testing.  I have 2 Nest Camera (Battery) and a Nest Doorbell that are working fine on this network.

I decided to go through router settings and turning of IPV6 solved the problem.  Seems like something you should be aware of.  There is no reason that IPV6 should prevent one from setting up a camera.  I want IPV6 enabled and so far things are still working after setting up the camera and turning it back on.
