Nest Cam with Floodlight multiple failed set ups

I have tried several times to get the Nest Cam with Floodlight (I'll call it NCF) working.

  • I have checked there is a strong full-bar wifi connection where I have installed the cam.
  • I have checked the power connection (it lights up)

When I go to set up the NCF it either gets stuck at connecting to the joining device or gets stuck at installing update usually somewhere between 4-15%. I left the update overnight and in the morning, it's still stuck at the same percentage. So I presumed it was soft-locked and performed a factory reset (I perform a factory reset after each failed set-up otherwise I get stuck at connecting to the joining device). I have also tried removing all other nest cams and setting up the NCF first. I have a Nest Doorbell that sets up fine without issue. It is only located a few meters away from where the NCF is installed.

Does the NCF have very weak wifi receivers? or do I have a dud because I am struggling to see where I have gone wrong? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I am having a similar problem. Had problems with my Internet. Had to change password. Camera wouldn't reconnect.. I deleted it and tried to re-add it and it won't connect to the app .. even after factory resetting the camera and floodlight.

Hi,

Have you found any fixes? I've just ordered a wifi repeater and 20m of ethernet cable to run under my house which will be fun. I'll place the repeater as close to the NCF as possible to ensure connectivity isn't an issue. I will reiterate that I have full bars at the installation site currently, but I can't think of any other issues that could be causing these set-up problems. I'll leave another message here once the stuff arrives and I get it set up.

No fixes. From what I have read elsewhere, some people have just bought a new one. About to buy a new one and return this one in the box the new one comes with. Since they can't provide an answer or reason for this problem. I've read many people have this problem

Yea, if this fix doesn't work I'll return it. I'm just reluctant because of how long the installation process was and I don't want to go through all the work of taking it down. I doubt they will accept just the camera lol.

Hi folks,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with setting up your Nest Cam with Floodlight. Try out these steps (skip the ones you already took):

  1. A stable and reliable Wi-Fi connection is crucial for the NCF to function properly. Ensure no intermittent connectivity issues or interference by connecting another device to the same Wi-Fi network in the exact location of the NCF.
  2. Ensure your Wi-Fi router's firmware is up to date before setting up the NCF to avoid compatibility issues with newer devices. Check the manufacturer's website or router configuration settings for updates.
  3. During setup, temporarily move the NCF closer to the Wi-Fi router for a stable connection, then return it to its intended location after completion.
  4. Try using a different device or app to test if the NCF issue persists, as compatibility or software-related issues can be device-specific.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
