Nest Camera Automated Intruder Warning Sounds

I've been seeing posts about adding this feature for over two years and it just doesn't seem to be taken seriously as an option.

This has been a feature for many cameras used for property protection for over four years. I've been using and paying for nest aware for 5 years now, I'm a loyal customer, but my "Nest" aware subscription is nearly up and I'm seriously starting to price out the transitioning to another camera system and this feature is really the only reason why... These cameras are not helping my situation, why can't we add an automated feature (a simple whistle even) so people notice there is a camera? We already instant notice via notifications.

Please do not comment that I step up my notifications, I get and review likely hundreds of the quick clips per day... But that doesn't help when people enter my property at 3 am. There needs to be a sound when motion is noticed.
I don't hear notifications and the intruder doesn't even notice the camera; so it serves no purpose at a deterrent.
All I get is a video of another hooded individual in the morning running off with my bike or bbq.

I always wondered about the same, these cameras have 2 way audio so even if they can't do that alone it would be pretty easy to combine them with Nest Hub to announce anything or make any possible sound.

My only guess here is that google doesn't want to be exposed to potential liability when security related functionalities are not working and that's why they're limiting them as possible (this includes other things being unavailable in some automation)

Either way from user experience perspective that's tragic so I completely agree with you here.

I wonder if they could tie it into their Automation system for home?
honestly, doesn’t seem overly complicated to integrate.

Hi Folks,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I’m sorry that you’re experiencing troubles with your Nest cameras that don't make any warning sound when someone passes your property. I understand how frustrating this can be. Let’s work together for a solution.

I understand that this warning sound has been ongoing for quite some time, and I apologize for the inconvenience it has caused so far. We’re always looking for ways to improve. Please share your thoughts and experiences with this concern and submit them to the feedback form so they can address it better in future updates.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Regards,

Byron

Yes “Google” your competitors as I’m sure the majority have the capability. And go from there

Agreed. We have now had two attempted robberies and I was only able to stop them before entering because I happened to be awake, heard the notification/alert(which never would have woke me if sleeping), opened the app, see the intruders, and  have to use the talk function to scare them off. Helpful would be a security system like our neighbors which automatically speaks a verbal “you are being recorded”

essentially your users are having to serve as their own intruder “alarm” to deter them. Unacceptable. Add a function for automated options. People need to sleep especially after being burglarized and simply cannot stay up to constantly review every notification that comes on phone

Google, please incorporate this simple feature. This is 2024 almost 2025 now... it's not rocket science. Allow the user to get annunciations on all the Google home devices when motion is detected between certain hours at night thru a nest camera.

This! Is the reason I’m awake at 4:00 am, as twice now Google cams barely alerted me (simple vibration or ding) on my phone. I had to open the app to see intruders attempting to break in even though the spotlight cam was above their head. So I had to use my own “talk” feature to verbally let them know to leave/they were recorded.

many cameras have an auto speak. A simple “you are now being recorded” will be sufficient. Until then, Google cam users who buy for extra security, prepare to be your own first line of surveillance with constant phone monitoring
