Nest Camera Battery will not charge

I bought a Google Nest Cam Outdoor or Indoor, Battery - 2nd Generation - 1 Pack in May to use as a backup and today I needed to replace an old camera but battery is dead and it will not charge. I have used 4 different cables for 2 days but still getting 'Empty Battery' error message!!! What is warranty???  Amazon will not replace!!!

I already have 6 old and new cameras but this Google Nest acquisition has been an absolute nightmare.  I never had problems with the direct nest camera and services but since Google; junk! crap! nothing is easy any more!

@jriccardi

Are you dismounting the camera to charge it, and plugging the charging cable in with the cable feeding towards the front of the camera?

You could try contacting Support:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Select your device from the dropdown, click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page.)
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

It is mounted with the magnetic mount in place with the charging cable correctly connected.  I already have 2 other Google Nest cams along with 5 of the original Nest cams.  All have been working for years except 1 of the older Nest cams has failed so I am replacing it with a new Google Nest cam.  3rd day mounted and charged but still getting 'Device offline - Empty battery!!!

Also, no white/blue/green light, nothing!!!

@jriccardi

Other customers in this forum have reported being told by Google Nest Support that the battery camera needs to be removed from its magnetic mount while being charged. (There does not seem to be anything in their online help about this.)

We've had a battery camera for almost 4 years, plugged in with the 10-meter optional power cable. And has been online and live the whole time. Some posts in this forum have raised questions about whether it is acceptable to power the battery camera by using the enclosed 1-meter charging cable.

If everything is good with your other battery cameras and you're having unexplained problems with just one, I'd suggest contacting Support to determine if that one camera is faulty.

I have tried charging it with or without the magnetic mount.  It does not seem to matter since neither works charging it for days now...

I have tried 3 different cable lengths...

@jriccardi

That sure seems like a defective camera that Google Nest should replace.

Regarding…

Are you dismounting the camera to charge it, and plugging the charging cable in with the cable feeding towards the front of the camera?’

Not sure what you are asking about ‘dismounting’? As I have already stated, I have tried 3 different charging cables, with and without the magnetic base mounted over the past 3 days to no avail. I have 7 cameras working for years so I think I know how to plug in the charging cable, facing the front…

I gave up and contacted support. They claim they will replace the camera under warranty after I return this one.  Time will tell…

I should add that the only issue without a solution is that I was able to remove the original Nest camera from the Nest app overview didplay and tried to add it into the Google Nest Home app overview display and now it's there as a blank display because I could never get it charged, or connected and on line.  At this point I have had no luck deleting/removing it from the Google Nest Home app overview display so I can start fresh with a new camera that will charge and go on line.  No matter where I go, even where the support instructions tell me where/how, I cannot find a delete/remove option any where...

@jriccardi

Google Nest has ongoing unresolved issues with phantom devices that cannot be removed because the app cannot communicate with them.

Thanks for that info, at least I know I'm wasting my time trying and I need to just give up and live with 1 blank screen. I guess "unresolved issues with phantom devices that cannot be removed because the app cannot communicate with them" is just another *feature* now thanks to Google's involvement.  Nest was a great camera BG; Before Google.  If I was not already heavily invested with 7 cameras I would toss them all in the junk yard where they belong!!!
