Having the exact same issue. Were you able to find a fix?

Called support, no luck after multiple various attempts - actually all things I had already tried on my own before I called, based on a googling the issue.   CSR finally gave up and said someone from "engineering" would contact me.  Having read others hearing that same reply, I was not too hopeful for a callback.

Anyway, I factory reset the thing one more time (many prior resets) and it successfully installed.  Not exactly sure what changed that last time but its now working great (happy w functionality).  I did try another pixel phone for setup somewhere along the way (wifi only, no sim card), but not sure if that was my issue.  Such an odd issue - seems to be common based on all the comments.

Hope you have success.

Hi Brad,

Thank you for getting back to me. Yes, I most definitely need your help with this. I’m not sure if it’s still only an IOS issue. I tried setting it up with an Android as well, but no luck. I did a factory reset many times as Markp99 has.  Tried with and without the QR code. It always says “Finishing Up” followed by “Something went wrong” message. I’m wondering if I just need to wait for an update.

@Snooooyness

There was an update that went out a couple days ago, I would make sure to update your mobile device and then restart your Camera. If that doesn't work, give it a Factory Reset and try again.

Best regards,

Brad.

Device is updated to the latest version. Did a factory reset on the camera. Still nothing.

Hey, one thing I did attempt but neglected to mention above (may or may not have been part of my success):

  1. I created a wifi hotspot on another phone and connected the Nest Cam to that.  Success on the first attempt!
  2. Of course, this is not a viable long term solution to have the nest cam tied to a hot spot, but was something.
  3. Immediately after the above hotspot success, I did a full reset on the Nest Cam.  Waited a bit, heard the start-up tones from the Cam
  4. Setup the Nest Cam one last time to my normal Wifi, with success.

May not be related, but might be worth a try...

Good luck!

Thanks! You really did try everything, didn’t you? I finally got it to work. It was a Google Wi-Fi issue we were having. I only realized after I tried to do the Hotspot like you suggested.

FYI - using Google wifi here too.   Maybe the common thread?

Happy to hear you got it working!

I have the same issue or similar. Went through all the steps, saw the video show in the setup sequence asking to adjust angle and all of the sudden Google Home (iPhone app) crashed. Once I restarted it, can't get setup to finish up. It tries to connect, then goes to "connecting to joining device" and then gives me the famous error message. Tried  to restart, restart my phone wifi, brought the Google WiFi access point nearby. I found that two of my Google WiFi access points crashed and remained offline, restarted them. Did all the rest of the standard steps, nothing. Can't get it to connect.

ok, update, factory reset solved it!

BUT, why can't I see the new camera on my Nest App, just on Google Home?

@etaibeck

Thank you for your feedback on this issue, I fully understand the frustrations of not having your new Nest Cams in the Nest App or available on https://bit.ly/3HtBgJC web app. I can imagine having to use two different apps at the moment is quite daunting, and could lead to frustration.

However, the new Nest cameras and doorbell are exclusive to the Home app because we wanted to create an integrated experience with your speakers and displays. A Nest Aware subscription applies to all of your cameras, speakers, and displays in the same home structure. Thank you for your continued patience, and support. I am more than happy to assist you further with this inquiry if you wish. Please let me know.

Best Regards,

Brad.
