Nest Camera Outdoor Floodlight

I have a Nest Doorbell which detects people and cars 40 feet away and more from the doorbell without issues.

I just installed a Nest Camera Floodlight 12 feet high on a tree in the backyard and its motion detection is very limited (no more than 20 feet) even as motion is set to high in the Home App.

I am wondering if I should lower the camera to say 8 feet to make the motion sensing with higher range??

Or is the 12 feet height is not an issue as It would be a lot of work to lower the camera.

Thanks in advance.

Hi todo,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your Nest Camera Floodlight. But don't worry, I can help. In this case, you can try to move the camera to 8 feet and keep an eye if the camera can detect motion sensing.

Please let me know how it goes, I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,

Jenny

After few days of testing I realized that the closest distance from the Floodlight Camera to the area it is looking for motion is 55 feet - and now it does recognize motion pretty well.

I guess the camera is too far for it to recognize faces although it does recognize the dog as a animal.

You may close this thread thanks.
