Google home app "sees" my camera but not the light with it. I have no control for the light on the app. My other two cameras are fine and have light control on the app. I have re-set it, removed and reinstalled it several times. The light will only come on if I get real close to it and wave my arms. It will not come on when I pull in my driveway or walk in my driveway. It used to work fine. The camera has red lights on it for some reason. The camera is working and is hardwired in but sometimes it will shut down with a "dead battery" error. I replaced the switch to the light to be sure and it will work for a while and then the battery will drain and then it will work again.

And of course you have the switch to the light turned on at all times, right?
If you go to Settings | Battery for your camera in the Google Home app, it should show "Plugged in" with an infinity symbol at all times, unless power to the camera is switched off. (We have the battery camera without the floodlight.)

Yes I leave the switch on. It will go from the infinity symbol to a battery percentage without me touching the switch.

That would seem to indicate the camera is losing power. Is the USB plug securely connected to the bottom of the camera? Is the camera fixture wired correctly? Is the switch to the floodlight camera faulty? (You mentioned replacing it.)
I suppose it could also mean your camera is faulty. (Our battery camera--the same camera used on the floodlight camera fixture--has been plugged in and "Live" for almost 2 years now.) You can use the link and instructions in the post below to contact Support:

One more thing. When you installed your camera in the Google Home app, did you specify that it was a floodlight camera?

Yes, I have two others that work fine. This one used to work.

Well, if you can rule out a poor connection for the one camera that's a problem, then try contacting Support.

Hi everyone,
@rcrouser, It's us again. How's it going? Were you able to fill up the form? Also, have you tried adjusting the motion sensitivity of your Nest Camera? The Motion setting will turn the lights on whenever the floodlight’s motion sensor detects activity. You can also adjust the motion sensitivity setting to determine when the floodlight will turn on.
To find the right setting for your floodlight installation, when it's dark, choose a sensitivity setting then walk past your camera to see when the light turns on. Select a higher sensitivity so that your floodlight will turn on when there’s activity further away, or a lower sensitivity for a shorter range. To learn more you may visit our public article “Change floodlight settings”.
Give these steps a try:
Thanks for answering, MplsCustomer and Lance.
Regards,
Emerson
