Nest Cameras all went offline June 5th at the same time

Hello,

I have 5 nest cam battery and a nest doorbell. All hardwired. On June 5th around 9pm EST all of my cameras went offline. The doorbell still works. Yet since then I have not been able to get these devices back online. Anyone else have this bug with the latest update? Really upsetting me because I’ve been having a lot of issues with the WiFi pro and now the cameras add to the drama. Everything else functions on my network as intended. Speeds are great. Any one else experiencing this?

I talked to Google today. 

Its a known bug thats been going around the last two weeks, it dont affect everyone… Google say it will be online by itself when they fix it, but dont know when that will be!

It works again on my doorbell! I think they fixed it. (Netherlands)

Mine has just this minute come back on. So I think they may have just started rolling out an update.

2 of 3 are back online for me, too. Didn't do anything.

Mine is also back online.

All of mine just started working. Literally minutes ago. Yay 👏

Mine are working too again. One worked automatically and the other after turning off and on (power cord).

After 2 days it is still not working for me. I did countless factory resets. I bought this Doorbell camera 3 days ago. What an experience this is...

Last factory update it managed to install again, but the camera remains offline. Device is deactivated.

Working for my 2 cams (battery) as well (Germany), had to factory reset both though. Good luck to all that are still struggling!

It was fixed, for me, yesterday evening (Netherlands). Mistakes happen but that took far too long to fix.

It's the failure to acknowledge there's a problem which is the worst thing. I've now got a Nest Hub Max that won't connect as I took it upon myself to attempt to fix with factory resets etc as Google said there wasn't a problem.

I some ways, I understand the reasoning (my cameras -- which i hadn't reset --) started working yesterday also, although there was a recording gap. So there was a botched software update, which did result on the live feeds not being available anymore; anything coming from the servers at G Was still available.

Let's take this was one step deeper:

1) You don't want G seeing your live feed. Perferctly reasonable,.

2) You've signed away your rights to 3-hour (or more : nest aware) storage in the cloud.

3) You have NOT signed away your pemrission to G to monitor or control your live cams.

Now you get the poor agent (or bot) that tries to help you. The Artefact is drawing from scenarios or AI, and the the most common answer it is coming up with is : reset the bleeding thing and start over.

i Do NOT KNOW if this the scenario that played out, but I think that support help was confused about what the problem origin was. They couldnt'invade on privacy by taking over your cams's (let alone do they HAVE the PK's). 

So yes, it a FUBAR, but probably caused by NECESSARY firewalls between you and G, which meant that G could not take over your cam. Hopefiull.., but keeping an eye out ...

This a HYPOTHESYS of the scenario. If G wants to react, i'll happily accept the facts

Camera werkt niet meer sinds dinsdag . Google zegt , ja er is een probleem maar we weten niet wat ! Oplossing dus niet te vinden . Ik stuur de camera maar terug want dit is waardeloos 

Ik had hetzelfde, maar na twee dagen wachten was het probleem ineens vanzelf over. Ik gebruik al een tijd meerdere camera's buiten en tot nu toe zeer tevreden. Wat er nu gebeurt is niet okay, maar het loont wellicht de moeite om even te wachten en na een dag of twee de camera aan en uit te zetten. Kan geen garanties geven natuurlijk.

Same problem with my Nest cam outdoor wireless. I'm using the android app on android 14 google pixel 7 pro. No issues on my Nest Hello wired doorbell.

Hi All,

Number of cameras went down recently including mine. A factory reset (button at the back pressed for 15sec) helped me from the second attempt. Important point, once you hear the sound, do not mount the camera back. Otherwise it goes back into the green light (that what happened to my camera). Reset it, hear the sound, then add to the app and then mount.

Several news websites are reporting about a worldwide update faillure on several Nest devices. Rebooting or hard reset will not solve the problem. It's unknown will this will be solved. 

 

Update 20/06/2023: services are running again.

Update 1.67 to be exact. Would be nice if Google made a public announcement - I have been trying to get through to chat all morning, but they are rammed (assumedly because of this)

 

Same overhere in Belgium. Also trying to get in contact with them. I think there get an overload of customers right now.

I have someone from Nest Support calling me in the next half hour or so, will report back if they are able to give me an ETA.

Somebody really dropped a bollock on this one.

Can't imagine a slapped wrist will cover the potential cost implications to Google if this ends up being something hard to fix 😂

So since, apparently, many people are reporting this to Google - maybe the best thing to do is wait until they sort this out. Maybe another update will be sent to the devices? I mean at the end of the day there is not much else one can do,

They really should update the nest service status in light of the many reported issues.

Overhere in Belgium it's working again. I received a call from the Google support.
What did we do:

1. Push the button at the back for 5 seconds, make sure the led is solid white,

2. Or do a factory reset (but you lose all the history)

3. Put the camera back on it's magnetic holder. The led should turn from white to green. It's activated again.

Just checked mine in the UK, and it's working without me doing anything. Both doorbell and a camera..

Everything is back for me without any changes made, I'm angry that there was clearly an issue that Google failed to own. I've wasted many hours trying to fix myself.

Hier in Nederland ook al weer een poos alles weer werkend. Maar inderdaad 3beren, een goede communicatie was beter geweest, zo ben ik ook enkele uren zoet geweest... voor niks... het lag niet aan ons.
