Nest Doorbell (Battery) only records audio static

I've had this doorbell for some months now, and all of a sudden, as of this morning the only audio recorded is static... is there anything I can do? I haven't taken it off of the wall yet because it's wired into my doorbell, but I don't see any way to do a power cycle or anything from the app.

Hey there,


Thank you for bringing up the concern you're experiencing, I would love to look into this further for you. The first troubleshooting step that I'd recommend would be to restart your device. This process should keep all your settings, and reconnect it to the same Wi-Fi network. This is helpful if it ever freezes, has connection problems, or isn't working normally.

After 2 days of static it just started working again... not sure why. Only theory is that it got too much water somewhere it wasn't supposed to during the last rain... but these things should be steadfast against rain, no?

I am relieved to hear that it's been resolved, but I would suggest taking the device inside for a day or so to make sure it all dries out if there is still moisture somehow inside.
