Nest Doorbell Sees Activity But Does Not Register it as an Event

I've had a Hello for a few years and had no issues until recently. I stopped getting most notifications that I was previously accustomed to. I live in a cul-de-sac, and the camera would generate events/notifications for cars passing by, people walking by, etc. Now, I seem to only get notifications if the motion is very close (i.e. at the door/on the porch). I called Google Customer Service, and we went through all possible fixes. The rep suggested I buy a new camera, which I did, and I'm having the same issue with the new one. Makes no sense that the range of detection suddenly so much less when it had worked fine for so long. Need help!! See below for activity that the camera saw but did not report an event/notification on.IMG_8567.jpg

I have a very similar issue. I no longer get any (typically an emails but also SMS alerts) from my first gen wired door bell. Interestingly, I do see the person (typically postman, Amazon) IF I catch it real time and eyeball the Nest app moment later.  Never an alert however. We have a second home with years newer doorbell cam and it rarely fails to record, then send, an alert, I too was thinking of replacing the door bell cam (about 5 years old) and thank goodness I read this post first, Two be clear, in real time and along with the chime function, the doorbell cam works fine. Looking forward to additional responses and thoughts here.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. To confirm, has anything changed in the environment on the view of your Nest Camera? Is the Airplane or Do Not Disturb mode turned off or on? Have you tried using a different mobile device? Try restarting your Nest Camera and Wifi router and monitor its behavior. Looking forward to your response.

Thanks,

Emerson

Hi there!  No, nothing had changed. It’s very strange. My wife and I are experiencing the same issue on each of our phones. I even bought a new nest camera and swapped out. Still the same results.

Hi Stwrogers,

We appreciate you getting back to us. We would recommend you to reset your Nest Camera to the factory default and re-add it to your app. Also, if possible, you may change the position of your Nest Camera to get a better angle. Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Emerson
