Nest Doorbell and Nest Aware

amacaskill
Community Member

Hi,

I have had a Nest doorbell and Internal Nest cam for 2-3 years.  Both were on the Nest Aware Gen 1 with 5 day recording.

The doorbell stropped working 2 months ago, it was technical and could no longer be used.  I then bought a new replacement nest doorbell.

However, I don't seem to be able to swap my new doorbell for my old one with my Nest Aware.

In my current subscription it states 'Device not set up' and I only have the option to cancel the subscription or set up the original device for what the subscription was for.  I obviously can't do this as the doorbell doesn't work.

My new doorbell then sits above as 'Unsubscribed devices'

How do I get me new camera into my existing nest aware service that I have already paid google for?

I do not wish to switch to the new Nest Aware - lets be honest its worse service for more money.

Google Nest Help says this: "Can I keep my current 1st gen Nest Aware subscription? Yes. As long as you don't migrate to a Google Account, your 1st gen Nest Aware subscriptions will continue. You can also purchase 1st gen subscriptions for new cameras. After you migrate to a Google Account, you can't add or renew 1st gen subscriptions." - https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9546397?hl=en&co=GENIE.Platform%3DAndroid#zippy=%2Ccan-...

So, if you still have a Nest Account and bought another Google Nest Hello Doorbell, you're supposed to be able to get a 1st gen subscription.

You could try the "Contact us" option under "Nest Aware Premier Care" on the page below to "Get 24/7 access to Nest Aware Experts on the Nest Customer Care team. They’re available to answer questions, help you access features, and manage your subscription."

Hi everyone,

@amacaskill it's us again. I'm bumping up this thread to make sure that everything is all good. The 2nd gen Nest Camera can only be paired with the 2nd gen Nest Aware subscription. A good thing about the 2nd Gen Nest Aware is, it will be applied to the whole home structure unlike the 1st gen that it can only be applied to one Nest device. So in case you have an existing 2nd gen Nest Aware subscription and you have a Nest Camera under that home structure and you decided to add another Nest Camera, you don't have to add a new subscription as long as you'll add it to the same home structure it will be covered. Hit this link for more information.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer and Brad.

Regards,
Emerson
