Nest Doorbell (battery) - Chime don't stop ringing

mnumic
Community Member

When I connect my new Google nest doorbell via wire, the chime does not stop ringing.

My wiring looks like in the picture.

The Chime is a Grothe sg851 with two cables.

On the transformer i can see 12V/24V .

When chaging the button to the google doorbell its like the cables are directly connected without any interuption.

Any ideas?

Hi mnumic,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation.

Did you use a wire extender as you install your Nest Doorbell (battery)? If not, follow the steps below:

After the doorbell is connected to the network, you will be prompted to install the doorbell. To complete the installation of the doorbell, follow the instructions in the app. A video tutorial will be presented to you for better guidance on how to install the doorbell. Refer to the following steps:

  1. Choose what the doorbell will use for power, you can choose either Battery or Wire terminals.
  2. Watch the installation video to get a better idea on how to install the doorbell.
  3. Unplug the doorbell and hold it onto the location where you plan to install the doorbell. Proceed to the next step once you are satisfied with the view.
  4. Turn off the power to the current doorbell. If you're unsure if you've managed to turn the power off, you can press the doorbell button until the interior chime stops ringing.
  5. Uninstall the current doorbell.
  6. Install the included wedge.
  7. Connect the source of power to the doorbell.
    • For wired terminals: connect the old doorbell wires to the wire extenders, and attach the wire extenders to the screws on the back of the doorbell.attach the connectors to the doorbell and screw them in place.
    • (Optional) for battery: attach the connectors of the indoor power adapter to the screws on the back of the doorbell and plug the adapter to a socket connect the USB-C cable into the doorbell and plug the indoor power adapter to a socket.
  8. Attach the doorbell to the base plate.
  9. Turn the doorbell transformer back on.

Let us know how that works.

Best,

Zoe

Thank you for your assistance. At the moment, I don't require any help, as I have returned the Google doorbell.

I was not able to make it work.
