Nest Doorbell battery familiar face detection issues

Hi all. Recently I switched from Android to iPhone and moved to the new flat but because I keep my router, network settings are the same. Although I pay for Google nest subscription, familiar face feature doesn't work. Even if someone ring my bell, in app I don't get offer to save face. Basically bell behave like there are no faces at all. I have few faces saved in my library when it was working. But now it seems I pay for something I don't get. And yes, I tried to remove the doorbell and perform master reset but it did not help at all.

 Hi @Got2

I'm really sorry that you have to experience this situation with your subscription. It's understandable that you'd be frustrated with the familiar face feature not working on your Nest doorbell after switching to iPhone and moving to a new flat. Please note that if you move to Illinois the face detection will not work, you can know more in the next article Familiar face detection.

Here are some troubleshooting steps that might help:

1. Check Nest Aware Subscription:

  • While you mentioned you pay for a Nest Aware subscription, double-check that it's active and applied to your specific structure where the doorbell is under in the Google Home app. You might have multiple subscriptions or cameras, so ensure the correct association.

2. Familiar Faces Setting:

  • Verify that Familiar Faces is enabled for your doorbell in the Google Home app settings. The setting might have gotten disabled during the move or reset process.

3. App Permissions and iOS Version:

  • On your iPhone, ensure the Google Home app has permission to access facial recognition features. You can check this in your iPhone Settings under "Privacy" and then "Face ID & Passcode" (or a similar option depending on your iOS version). Look for the Google Home app and make sure "Face Recognition" is enabled.
  • Make sure you're using a compatible iOS version. Newer versions of iOS might have better compatibility with the Google Home app and its features.

4. Re-add Doorbell to Google Home App:

  • Completely remove your Nest doorbell from the Google Home app. Then, follow the steps to re-add it as a new device. This can sometimes resolve configuration issues.

Please try those steps and let me know if you were able to solve it.

All the best,

Josh
