Nest Doorbell no notification on any device

DChellar
Community Member

Scenario: visitor rings Nest Doorbell; device chimes for the visitor.
Previously: I would receive a notification on iPhone, iPad and Android television ("Someone is at the front doorbell").

Now: I receive no notification on any device, despite changing no settings on any device. Note that I do not have Nest Hub. Live streaming the camera continues to works fine.

No email notifications received either, although I never checked that before.

  • "Push Notifications" switched on
  • "Visitor Announcements" switched on
  • iPhone allows Google Home accouncements
  • I have tried re-starting the device.

Google Help seems not to help, since all answers seem to refer to the above bullet points but do not suggest what to do when all those things are fine.

Hi Dchellar,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry that you're having troubles with your Nest Doorbell notifications on all your devices. I understand how frustrating this can be. I'm here to help.

For your concern, please try the below steps:

  • Turn off all notification settings in the Home app or Nest app and double-check if the Web app has the same settings.
  • Sign out of the Nest account on all devices it's signed into, including computers.
    • iOS
      1. Delete the app.
      2. Restart the phone.
      3. Reinstall the app.
  • Sign in and turn all notification settings back on. If needed, double-check if the Nest web app has the same settings.
  • Go to the device’s settings.
  • Look for the Home app or Nest app.
  • Select Notifications.
  • Ensure that the toggle is on.
  • Make sure the camera is pointed to an area that isn't too bright or dark.
  • Gather screenshots of the Activity Zones and make sure they don't overlap.
    • If the activity zones overlap, delete the activity zones and recreate them with no overlap.

Let me know how it goes and keep me posted.

Regards,

Kevin

After writing the note above, I also did a factory reset and re-installed the device but the issue persists.
