Nest/Google Cams multiple issues

Swede_i_is

Issue 1. new version Nest cams (Outdoor) 4 and Nest door bell cam battery) trying to view on iOS buffers or does not load at all (most of the time)

Issue 2. Can not find anywhere online in any Google help files where I can see new cams on a PC

Issue 3. Have 4 older wired Nest cams. Work great on Nest app on iOS, Nest app android and on PC. Can not link to Google Home.

Issue 4. Can not assign old Nest permission to a 2nd user. Can only send links to induvial feeds.

Is there;

1. A single platform on iOS and PC where I can view all 9 cams in 1 account?

2. Any way to fix the load/buffering? Restarted all cams, restarted WiFi (390 MPBs stable connection). Restarted all devices. Updated all software/firmware on all devices. Cleared all cookies, cache, temp files, history from all devices. Added Wifi Range Extenders on both sides of house. Farthest cam from base unit is 35 feet, from extender is 7 feet.

No other devices on network have any issues. Only Nest/Google cams.  I am about to take the loss and toss all 9 cams and start over with a different brand this is so frustrating.

Just to add to your list of issues I have a Nest Outdoor Camera Gen1.

Recently for every 30 secs its online its offline for 5-10min. I am running on a Nest wifi Gen 1 system (which also has significant long-standing issues) and the camera is 3 feet from the main router on the other side of a window (not tinted). The camera consistently connects to the Nest point that is the furthest away which gives it less than 1mbps.

My Nest Cameras may as well be paper weights as they are completely useless. Same with the Nest Wifi and all other Google products I currently own.

These products are not fit for purpose and are a complete waste of well over $2000.

I have logged support cases and get nothing back.

Google need to either fix the outstanding issues with all their products or give people their money back.

1. Other than Wi-Fi issues, I don't know why your cameras do not load.

2. You can view the live feed for all of your cameras, old and new, on the beta/preview google.home.com website.

3. If you are logging onto the Google Nest app and the Google Home app with the same Google Account and all of your cameras are in the same Google Nest "home/structure", you should be able to see the live feed for all of your older Nest cameras in the Google Home app.

4. If you add a second user to your Google Nest "household" under Settings | Household in the Google Home app (and if you are logging onto the Google Nest app and the Google Home app with the same Google Account), that will give the second user full access to all of your cameras, old and new.

I have the same issues, slow viewing.  People have come and gone before I can see on doorbell.  I cannot get floodlight cam on my nest aware account- just keeps sending me in circles.

@Hstew

If by "Nest Aware account" you mean your Nest Aware subscription, your Nest Aware subscription should automatically cover all cameras and doorbells on the same Google Account in the same Google Nest "home/structure".

If by "Nest Aware account" you mean the Google Nest app, the floodlight camera only appears in the Google Home app, and not in the Google Nest app.

How pathetically bad are these cameras and the home app? I have 7 cameras over $2000 worth of cameras that are only fit for the garbage tip.

@Anonymous completely agree. The lag is a disaster regardless if through the home app or nest app.  Thankfully it was my daughter but she pulled up the driveway, opened the gate, opened the garage door, brought a load of shopping in from her car, and went back out before the stupid camera even showed her pulling in the driveway. Understand that there will be some kind of lag but it should be seconds not minutes, oh and that's when the cameras are actually online which is next to never. Just pathetic.

I will say that given all the other issues I currently have with other Google products such as Nest Wifi and Chromecast with Google TV they are very consistent. Consistently crap. 😠

Am getting a quote to replace these crappy cameras with a fully wired system as these just do not work and Google has no interest in fixing them.

After that it will be replacing the Google Nest Wifi as its just as useless.

Hello everyone,

@Swede_i_is and Chook71, thanks for reaching out here in the Community. Just to be sure, how do you reset your Nest Camera to the factory default? What is the light status of your Nest Camera? Do you see any error codes? Looking forward to your response.

@Hstew, make sure that your Nest Camera with Floodlights is on the same home structures where your other Nest devices are added.

I appreciate the help, MplsCustomer.

Regards,

Emerson

@EmersonB

I have lost count of the number of times I have done a factory reset on my cameras (and every other Google device). If it does anything it is only for a few hours and then back to the same old situation. When I check the physical camera the status light is green and I receive no error codes. I think the factory reset it needs is to be sent back to Google and I get my money back. I'm literally sitting here watching myself check our mailbox. I did that 5 minutes ago.

I wonder if the Gen2 Cameras have similar issues?

There is no way I'm spending another $500+ on one to find out as I can get a 4 camera 4K hardwired system for that.

Reset by paperclip in hole on bottom. I then remove it from the app and redo the add process. Get no errors. Light on front acts as it always does. slow blink when setting it up then the brightness I set it to when on.

Hello folks,

I appreciate all the steps you've tried. To further isolate this issue, could you confirm the steps below to properly reset your Nest Camera:

For Nest Camera (battery):

1. Locate the reset button on the back of your Nest Camera.

  • Tip: The reset button on your Nest Camera is located on the back of the camera head.

2. Press and hold the button:

  • At 10 seconds, the status light will flash yellow four times, and you’ll hear a countdown tone.
  • At 12 seconds, the status light will be steady, solid yellow while the camera starts the factory reset, and you’ll hear a confirmation tone.

3. Release the button. Your Nest Camera will restore to its factory settings.

4. After the factory reset, your Nest Camera will appear as “Offline” in the app until you remove it.

To remove it from the app, open the app, tap on the device, then tap Settings> Remove device > Confirm.

Hit this link for more information and let us know how it goes.

Best,

Emerson
